Violet Mae Gray Wright was born the daughter of Frank Herbold and Gertrude Barnett Herbold on August 10, 1924 at Thayer, Missouri and departed this life July 14, 2011 at her home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas at the age of 86 years.
She was united in marriage January 24, 1945 at Salem, Arkansas to Justin Bryan Gray who preceded her in death on January 7, 1991. She was later united in marriage to Obet Wright who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Dennis Gray and wife, Jean of Thayer, Missouri; four granddaughters, Latricia Scragham and husband, Mark of Raven, Virginia, Denise Wheaton and husband, Tim of Chicago, Illinois, Christina Holm and husband, Christopher of Sand Spring, Oklahoma and Melissa Whorton and husband, Ben of Castleton, Virginia; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Butler of the State of Texas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gertrude Herbold; her husbands, Bryan Gray and Obet Wright and two sisters, Frankie Spoor and Pearl Aims.
Violet was a factory worker and was employed by Puritan Fashions in Thayer for many years. She was a dedicated homemaker, a devoted wife, Mother and grandmother. She cherished the time spent with her family and enjoyed growing and caring for her flowers.
She was a Christian and of the Assembly of God faith.
She will truly be missed by her family, her friends and the neighborhood in which she lived.
Funeral services will be held July 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Charles Barnett and Brother Thomas Smith officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening, 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, INC in Thayer.
