    Sonny and family,

I’m sorry we couldn’t make it for the service. But our thoughts are with you. Shirley was a good person to know for many reasons. She knew most of the people I went to school with, so she could always fill me in about what they were doing. At Mother’s funeral, Dorval and I were trying to straighten out Porter Wagner’s background, but it was Shirley who put us straight. It was always good to be able to talk to her–she had a great sense of humor and a wealth of knowledge about the area! We are poorer now after losing someone who knew us when we were younger.
