Joyce (Pingleton) Mills, 93, passed away on June 29, 2023, in Gainesville, Florida. She was born on August 14, 1929, in Thayer, Missouri to Johnnie Andrew Pingleton and Issie Bell Combs Pingleton.
She will be remembered as Mom, Grandma, Gijo, and Aunt Joyce. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She treasured her family and loved the Lord. She has left a legacy of love for all who knew her and has touched our lives in a special way. Her love will spread for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Issie Bell Pingleton; her husband Kenneth H. Mills; her sons Lloyd, Loren, and Larry Mills; sisters Helen Underwood, Lorene Pohnert, and Martha Vranes; Brothers Harry, Grover, Jack, Jessie, and George Pingleton.
She is survived by son Leonard Mills of Kansas City. Daughter Linda McSwain (Bill) of High Springs Florida; eight grandchildren Eric McSwain (Kristi) of Kansas City, Chris McSwain (Shellie) of Alachua Florida, Michelle McSwain of Alachua Florida, Tamera Lawrence (Matt) of Lawrence Kansas, Cody Mills (Rebecca) of Kansas City, Kansas, Weston Mills (Bre) of Kansas City, Kansas, Erika Mills of Lawrence, Kansas and Justin Mills of Wichita, Kansas; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
Interment will be on Friday, July 7, 2023, in Thayer Cemetery, Thayer Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

We were so sorry and sad to hear of the loss of Mrs. Mills. We have wonderful memories of shared times and holidays with her. She was delightful to be around and always interesting to talk with. We will miss her tremendously.

To the many nieces and nephews and family members of Mrs. Mills I extend my condolences to each of you. I knew her sisters Helen and Lorene and her brother Grover was my pastor when I was a Thayer resident. May God give you peace at this time.
