Dolly Margaret Friel was born the daughter of Joseph Cheek and Arlie (Penrod) Cheek on August 4, 1932, in Wardell, Missouri, and departed this life October 23, 2014, in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.
She was united in marriage on May 29,1948, at Piggott, Arkansas, to James W. Friel, who preceded her in death on March 29, 2013.
She is survived by five children, Margaret Cochran of Agnos, Arkansas, Jerry Friel of Alma, Arkansas, Sharon Miller and husband, James of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Elizabeth Smith and husband, Howard of Eminence, Missouri and Mary Morris and husband, Chris of Broadway, Virginia; one brother, Clyde (Jr.) Creasey and wife, Wilma of Dupo, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two unborn great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Arlie Cheek; her husband, James W. Friel; one son, Samuel Friel; one granddaughter, Reschell Cochran; one grandson, Luke Smith; one brother, Rob Cheek and five sisters, Odell Leatherwood, Betty Canoy, Mendora Turner, Louella Downing and Ollie Jo Friel.
She was a Christian lady and a member of Shekinah Tabernacle.
Mrs. Friel was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing, singing, and entertaining her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all.
Funeral services were Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery at Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
