Connie Vance Pierson was born the son of John Allen Pierson and Mary (Phillips) Pierson on April 26, 1930, at Prosser, Nebraska, and departed this life on March 30, 2015, in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 84 years.
He was united in marriage on October 20, 1965, at San Francisco, California, to Vivian Platts.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Vivian Pierson of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; Lisa Shatzer of Kalona, Iowa, Van Pierson and wife, Karla of Atalissa, Iowa, and Jonathan Pierson of Belleville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Amber, Davin, and Carlos; one great-grandchild, Gideon; one sister-in-law, Ima Jean Pierson of Lamar, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Pierson; five brothers, Orris Pierson, Doral Pierson, Roy Pierson, Dale Lloyd Pierson, and Russell Pierson; and one sister, Phyllis Pierson.
Connie was a Veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and retiring after twenty years of service.
After his retirement, he was employed as an Orthopedic Technician at the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa for twenty-two years.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and bowling. He was a member of bowling leagues, both in Iowa City, Iowa and in Thayer, Missouri for many years.
Connie was deeply devoted to his family and will truly be missed by his family, friends, and the community in which he lived
