Iona June (Durham) Harpole was born the daughter of Arthur Lee and Laura Lois (Nanny) Durham on June 15, 1923 in Rockport, Indiana and departed this life December 4, 2012 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 89 years.
She was united in marriage on March 10, 1934 in Helena, Arkansas to Mose Harpole. After 78 years of marriage, Mose passed away just two weeks before June on November 18, 2012.
She is survived by her son, George C. Harpole and wife, Soo, of White Hall, Arkansas; one grandson, George G. Harpole and wife, Jennifer, of Alvin, Texas; one great grandson, Colton Hunter Harpole of Alvin, Texas; one sister, Mildred E. Leslie of Rockport, Indiana; one nephew, Robert Leslie of Rockport, Indiana; one niece, Lynette Hafstrom of Sheldon, Illinois; other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Laura Durham; her beloved husband, Mose Harpole and one brother, George C. Durham.
June was a homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. After Mose’s retirement, the two of them shared a new hobby of restoring antique furniture. They enjoyed looking for old furniture in flea markets and completely bringing it back to life.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services for June Harpole, age 89, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, will be Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Methodist Church in Mammoth Spring with J.R. McElhannon officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, Friday, December 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
Paul A. Larsen was born the son of Arthur Ray and Lula Mae (Wilkinson) Larsen on March 2, 1943 in Rupert, Idaho, and departed this life December 3, 2012, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 69 years.
He was united in marriage on January 8, 1966 at the Centerpoint Church of God in Myrtle, Missouri, to Dolores Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Larsen of the home in Myrtle; one daughter, Rebecca Harrison and husband, David of West Plains, Missouri; one son, Adam Larsen and wife, Amanda of Myrtle; six grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mathias, Taylor “tater bug” and Sydney Rose Harrison and Haylie Jo and “Mister” Dylan Larsen; two sisters, Mary Ellen Farney and husband, Nelson of Independence, Missouri and Clara Williams and husband, Merle of Thayer, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Joyce Taylor of Myrtle; brother-in-law, Jeff Taylor and wife, Judy; sister-in-law, Delilia Sahl and husband, Gregory; ten nieces and nephews, Mark, Joe, John, Kelly, Lori, Dawn, Lauren, Chris, Andrew and Sarah; nine great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lula Larsen; his father-in-law, Grover Taylor, and a special nephew, Steve Williams.
Paul was a livestock farmer and a retired rural mail carrier, serving the Koshkonong, West Plains and Thayer areas and an active member of NARFE.
He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He loved to water ski. When that was no longer possible, he took the same pleasure in driving the boat with his children and grandchildren on tubes behind. But his true love was trap shooting. Paul is a life member of the NRA, the Missouri Trapshooters Association, and the Ameteur Trapshooters Association. He was a NRA coach and Youth Chairman of the MTA for the past 26 years. In 1992 he founded the Youth Scholarship Fund of the MTA. He was inducted into the MTA Hall of Fame. Paul has over 150,000 registered targets with the ATA.
As a child, Paul had a burning desire to “see how it works.” Every new toy got taken apart and thoroughly examined. The fact that it might never work again did not deter him. As an adult, Paul was the person people called when they needed help to fix things, whether it was a well pump or a building. He was an outstanding citizen of the community, serving on the board of directors for the Myrtle Water Department and Myrtle Fire Department.
He was baptized at age 8 and was active in the congregational life of the Centerpoint Church of God. He was a devoted family man and a loyal friend. His greatest passions in life were his grandchildren and trap shooting.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Wednesday, December 5th, from 5:30 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in the Myrtle Cemetery at Myrtle, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Missouri Trap Shooters Scholarship Fund or the Myrtle Fire Department and left at the Funeral Home.
George Franklin Reed was born the son of James Lonzo and Ella Javan Dora (Stubblefield) Reed on March 3, 1919 in Gatewood, Missouri and departed this life December 1, 2012 at National HealthCare in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 93 years.
He was united in marriage February 28, 1938 in Alton, Missouri to Fay Hall, who preceded him in death on June 23, 1993.
He is survived by James Lee Reed and wife, Rosalee of Myrtle, Missouri and Dale Lee Reed and wife, Lee Ann of Mountain Home, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Jarvis Reed and wife, Kelli, Chris Reed and wife, Rebecca, and Nicole Fay Reed Hearting; one grandson-in-law, Dean Bennett; nine great grandchildren, Derrick Bennett and wife, Tricia, Austin, Dalton, and Summer Reed, Eli and Gracie Hearting, Katy Woodruff, and Cassie and Sara Springer; one great great granddaughter, Katherine Bennett; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Babe and Dora Reed; one granddaughter, Karen LaRue Bennett; six brothers, Hanford, Elmer, Willie, Verner, Tillman, and Troy Reed; three sisters; Birdie May Gazaway, Ola Crapo, and Lillie Smith.
George was a good welder and could often be found in his shop creating new items or repairing used ones. He was a plain spoken man, yet you always knew where you stood with him.
He was a member of the Walnut Grove Free Will Baptist Church and a retired dairy farmer.
George enjoyed southern gospel music, attending gospel concerts and listening to tapes while traveling.
He loved life, enjoyed his grandchildren and family and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Vera Nettie Hatman was born the daughter of Fred B. Kenney and Ruth A. (Garrettson) Kenney on January 27, 1923 in St. Cloud, Florida and departed this life November 26, 2012 at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 89 years.
She graduated from St. Cloud High School in 1941 and attended Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Orlando, Florida, graduating in 1944.
Vera was stationed in England during World War II, where she proudly served her country in the Army Nurse Corp. During that time, she met her husband, Archie.
After moving to Thayer, she worked as a nurse, assisting Dr. A.T. Walker with labor and deliveries at his clinic in Mammoth Spring. She helped to deliver over 500 babies.
In 1958 she went to work for the Oregon County Health Department as County Nurse. During that time, she traveled throughout the county conducting clinics in schools for vaccinations, TB testing, and hearing and vision checks. She worked closely with the Crippled Childrens Service and escorted many premature babies in incubators to area hospitals, where they could receive more intensive care. During the 1980’s, she helped provide home health care throughout the county. She retired from the health department in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; son, Kenney; granddaughter, Kristen; great grandson, Grady DuBois; her parents, Fred and Ruth Kenney; three sisters, Nell, Peg, and Bertha and two brothers, Bill and Howard.
She is survived by her children, Glenda Lewis of Little Rock, Arkansas, Paulette Hatman of Ava, Missouri, Don Hatman and wife, Cindy of Thayer, Missouri, and Patricia Krumwiede and husband, Vernon of Fulton, Missouri; one granddaughter, Christie Hatman of Thayer, Missouri; one grandson, Jared Hatman of San Clemente, California; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Ponce of St. Cloud, Florida and Delores Osburn of Laughlin, Nevada; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
For the past eighteen months, she was a resident of Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer. After her arrival there, she loved it and was loved by the caring staff and soon considered that her home.
Mrs. Hatman was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Thayer, Missouri.
She will be remembered as an avid reader, a very generous, giving person who dedicated her life to helping patients and their families throughout the county who needed her assistance, and being a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mose Harpole was born the son of Nathaniel Harpole and Elizabeth (Sides) Harpole on April 15, 1913 in Ackerman, Mississippi and departed this life November 18, 2012 at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas at the age of 99 years.
He was united in marriage on March 10, 1934 in Helena, Arkansas to June Durham.
He is survived by his wife of 78 years, June Harpole, of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, George C. Harpole and wife, Soo, of White Hall, Arkansas; one grandson, George G. Harpole and wife, Jennifer, of Alvin, Texas; one great grandson, Colton Hunter Harpole of Alvin, Texas and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Elizabeth Harpole; ten brothers and three sisters.
Mose starting working as a deck hand at the age of 15 and continued his job on the tow boat, retiring as First Mate after many years on the river. In 1971, he and June moved with their son, George, to Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. After retirement, they shared a new hobby of restoring antique furniture. They enjoyed looking for old furniture in flea markets and completely bringing it back to life.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will truly be missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, November 20, from 6:00 until 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Harold Dean Hobbs was born the son of George Lewis and Vada A. (Crews) Hobbs on June 20, 1935 in Thayer, Missouri and departed this life November 17, 2012 at his home in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas at the age of 77 years.
He was united in marriage November 13, 1955 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Hasseltine Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Hasseltine Hobbs of the home; two sons, Jerry Hobbs and wife Sharon of Russellville, Missouri and Larry Hobbs and wife Amber of Rolla, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Crase and husband, Bob of Thayer, Missouri; eight grandchildren, James Hobbs and wife, Myrnda of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Joseph Hobbs of St. Louis, Missouri, Kimberly Hobbs of Russellville, Missouri, Emma and Abby Hobbs of Rolla, Missouri, Amanda Crase of Springfield, Missouri, Allen Crase and Angela Crase of Thayer, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Fred Wesson of South Haven, Mississippi, and Sammy Smith and wife Beckie of Waynesville, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vada Hobbs; one grandson, Jarrod Hobbs; and two sisters-in-law, Nadine Wesson and Geraldine Smith.
Dean was a member of the Church of Christ in Franklin, Arkansas, a retired farmer and postal worker. He will be remembered as a caring husband, loving father and grandfather. He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.

Alma Jerlean “Jerry” Corp was born the daughter of Graydon Blankenship and Nora Miller Blankenship on September 19, 1939 in Alton, Missouri and departed this life November 16, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 73 years.
She was united in marriage in 1957 in Marionville, Missouri to James Terry Johnson and to this union were born three daughters. She was united in marriage April 12, 1975 in Thayer, Missouri to Dale Corp and to this union was born one son.
She is survived by three daughters, Regenia Johnson of West Plains, Missouri, Terry Smith and husband, Steven of Wentzville, Missouri, and Penny Manes and husband, Kenneth of West Plains, Missouri; one son, Bobby Joe Corp of West Plains, Missouri; six grandchildren, Steven J., Michael, Shelbie, Ashley, Gabriel and Noah; five great-grandchildren, Jenna, Maggie, Brock, Camellia and Claire; one sister, Winona Rogers of Lawson, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Graydon and Nora Blankenship; two sisters, Vivian Johnson and Flossie York; two infant brothers and two infant sisters.
Jerry was a homemaker and a member of the United Freewill Baptist Church in West Plains. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral Services for Ms. Corp will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Thayer Freewill Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri, with Brother Dennis McGinley and Steven J. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Norman Cemetery.

Thelma Maxine (Boler) Ragsdale was born the daughter of Virgil Boler and Ada (Buchanan) Boler on September 20, 1922 in Salem, Arkansas and departed this life November 9, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 90 years.
She was united in marriage June 1, 1939 in Fulton County, Arkansas to Clovis Ragsdale, who preceded her in death June 22, 2004.
She is survived by one son, Wendell Ragsdale and wife, Marolyn of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ragsdale of Mammoth Spring; four grandchildren, Ricky Ragsdale and wife, Beth of Mammoth Spring, Rae Lynn Simers and husband, Steve of Mammoth Spring, Monty Ragsdale and wife, Kim of Mammoth Spring and Mary Alana Ragsdale of Searcy, Arkansas; six great grandchildren, Kayla Rose and husband, Forrest, Lindsey Ragsdale, Brittany Simers, Jacob Simers, Emma Ragsdale and Reece Ragsdale, all of Mammoth Spring; one brother, Keith Boler and wife, Robbyn of Bethany, Louisiana; one sister, Rowena Hall and husband, Don of Amarillo, Texas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Ada Boler; her husband, Clovis Ragsdale; one son, Cordell Ragsdale; and one brother, Jewell Boler.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Mammoth Spring and also a member of the Mammoth Spring Garden Club.
Mrs. Ragsdale was a seamstress and was employed by Puritan Fashions in Thayer for many years. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and sister. She will truly be missed by her family and her many friends.

Thelma Modena (Prewitt) Smotherman was born the daughter of Ivens Perry and Mary Modena (James) Prewitt on March 8, 1926 at Ravenden, Arkansas, and departed this life November 9, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 86 years.
She was united in marriage December 27, 1946 at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Andrew Jack Bowers, who preceded her in death October 24, 1964. To this union one daughter, Sherry Lynne, was born. She was united in marriage June 6, 1969 at West Plains, Missouri to Max Smotherman, who preceded her in death November 20, 1980.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lynne Davis and husband, Curtis of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren, Christa Cox of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Justin Cox of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters, Iva Chloe Porter of Mansfield, Missouri and Mary Lou Osterbuhr of Thayer, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Prewitt of Ellisville, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; three brothers, Perry, Elmer and Albert Prewitt and three sisters, Ethel Busch, Bertha Johnson, and Edith Brown.
During World War II, in order to support the troops and serve her country, Thelma moved to St. Louis to work at the Civil Defense Plant. After returning to Thayer, she began working as a seamstress for Puritan Fashions in Thayer, Missouri. Later, she worked at the Dinner Bell Restaurant, where she enjoyed serving and visiting with her friends and neighbors and then worked downtown for several years at Forschler Department Store. During the 1970’s, she and her husband, Max owned and operated Able Tire Shop in Ava, Missouri.
Mrs. Smotherman was a member of the Church of Christ at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. She will be remembered as a dedicated homemaker, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ila Elizabeth (Langle) Pingleton was born May 22, 1929, the daughter of Grover and Eliza Jane (Mask) Langle at Salem, Arkansas, and departed this life November 6, 2012 at West Vue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 83 years.
She was united in marriage on September 3, 1948 to Lonnis Noel Pingleton, who preceded her in death on December 15, 2004.
She is survived by one son, Jackie Hooper and wife, Linda of Memphis, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Shelly Bradshaw and husband, Paul of West Plains, Missouri; one grandson, Michael Hooper and wife, Nicole of West Plains; two great grandchildren, Paul Michael and Avery Grace Bradshaw, both of West Plains; two brothers, Cleo Langle and wife, Mary Alice of Dallas, Texas, and Theodore Langle of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Alita Todd of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Eliza Jane Langle; her husband, Noel Pingleton; one son, Michael Pingleton; four brothers, Clarence, Bernie, Fred and John Langle; two sisters, Nancy May Reagan and Audrey May Birch.
Ila was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family, working in her vegetable garden, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a Christian lady and a member of the Deeper Life Pentecostal Church in West Plains, Missouri. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; always putting her family before herself. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pingleton will be Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home ,Thursday November 8, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery east of Thayer with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
