David Elijah Sorrell was born the son of Finis Elijah Sorrell and Lillie (Risner) Sorrell on November 30, 1921 at Myrtle, Missouri, and departed this life April 3, 2014 in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 92 years.

He was united in marriage on September 6, 1944 at Pocahontas, Arkansas, to Geneva Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Sorrell of the home in Myrtle, Missouri; one brother, Robert Gene Sorrell and wife, Mary Lou of Myrtle, Missouri; two sisters, Louise Sorrell of Thayer, Missouri, and Mable Jo Gardner of Springfield, Missouri; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Finis and Lillie Sorrell; one brother, Dow Sorrell; one sister-in-law, Jean Sorrell; and one brother-in-law, Sam Gardner.

After graduating from Couch High School with the class of 1941, David proudly served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He was a charter member of the National World War II Museum and Monument. In 2012, he was honored and privileged to be a member of the Honors Flight to Washington, DC.

David’s love for Geneva grew and while on furlough from the army, they were married. Upon his discharge, David and Geneva began their lives together on the farm he had purchased from his grandfather. David was a successful livestock farmer and known as a good steward of his land and possessions. He practiced conservation in land management and production of his farm and strived to develop habitats for wildlife protection.

David was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting quail, pheasant, and turkey; pitching horseshoes, and was a competitive domino and croquet player.

David, along with Geneva, was very active in their community. They supported many local events and organizations, including Myrtle Senior Citizens Center, Couch School, Myrtle Fire Department, and Myrtle Yesterdaze.

He was a dedicated Christian, a man of integrity, and a faithful member of the Myrtle Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.

Even though he and Geneva had no children, many of their family members have received love and attention as they feel a strong family unit is most important to one’s happiness and stability, demonstrated more completely through Christian love and fellowship.

He was a devoted husband, brother and uncle, and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and the community in which he lived.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Myrtle Free Will Baptist Church in Myrtle, Missouri with Brother Ralph Douglas and Brother Dale Skiles officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Saturday, April 5^th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.

Burial will be in the Myrtle Cemetery in Myrtle, Missouri, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Peggy Jean (Gray) Boyd was born the daughter of Herman Gray and Velma (Gallyon) Gray on December 17, 1929, in Higgins, Texas, and departed this life on March 30, 2014, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 84 years.

She was united in marriage on June 20, 1963 at Winnemucca, Nevada, to Osker Cleatis Boyd.

She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Osker Boyd of Thayer, Missouri; children, Tammy Lynn Dorton of Thayer, Missouri, Gary Neal Boyd and wife, Becky of Florida, Ann Bonser and husband, Bill of Oregon, Jack Boyd and wife, Kathy of Oklahoma, and Mike Boyd and wife, Penny of Texas; grandchildren, Becky Dye and husband, Bill of Minnesota, Billy Bonser and wife, Linda of Oregon, Brenda Schwartz and husband, Tim of Minnesota, Jackie Francis and husband, Clay of Texas, Trenton Boyd and wife, Mendy of Texas, Ruth Dorton of Thayer, Missouri, Gregory, Ryan, Patrick, and Aaron Boyd, all of Florida; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Jacquita Ann Hoover and husband, Dean of California; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Gray and mother, Velma Skough and husband, Evret; one grandson, Robert Boyd; and brother, Herman Gray, Jr.

Peggy was employed as a legal secretary for many years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and crochet needlework in her pastime.

Peggy was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church and will be remembered as a kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will truly be missed.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 3:30 PM at the Pleasant Hill/Arytown Cemetery near Thayer with Leo Warren officiating.

The body will lie in state at the Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Tuesday, April 1^st from 1:00 until 7:00 PM.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill/Arytown Cemetery near Thayer, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

David Clayton Gaines was born the son of Clayton Omar Gaines and Eva Lou (Sorrell) Gaines on May 3, 1960, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life March 23, 2014, at his home in Guthrie, Oklahoma, at the age of 53 years.

He is survived by his double uncle and aunt, Thomas and Myrtle (Gaines) Sorrell of Guthrie, Oklahoma; six other uncles, Herbert Gaines, Jr. of Thayer, Missouri, Victor Gaines and wife, Julia of Scaranton, Kansas, Ray Gaines of Provo, Utah, Leon Sorrell of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Sam Sorrell and wife, Sharon of Bartlett, Kansas, and Paul Sorrell and wife, Lynette of Verona, Missouri; two other aunts, Lois Adkins and husband, Cliff of Riverton, Iowa, and Martha East of Las Vegas, Nevada; step-mother, Roberta Gaines of Guthrie, Oklahoma; best friends, Johnny Ray Bennett and Rusty Mooney; a whole host of cousins; other relatives; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Eva Lou Gaines; and his sister, Ruth Ann Gaines.

David was a carpenter by trade, but much more than work, he loved riding fast horses. He competed at rodeos in team roping and team penning events, winning saddles and other accolades. He was truly a good-hearted guy and was glad to be a friend to everyone. He was known to keep a good number of horses on the farm and have friends out for a Saturday afternoon trail ride. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, as well as an occasional fishing trip.

David knew the love of our Wonderful Savior. He was well loved by his large family and many, many friends. He will truly be missed.

Funeral Services for Mr. Gaines will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Brother Phil Gellenbeck and David’s uncles, Paul Sorrell and Carl Shaffer officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Saturday morning, March 29th, from 9:00 until 11:00 AM.

Burial will be in the Church of God Campground Cemetery in Myrtle, Missouri.

Ruthann (Janes) Reynolds was born the daughter of Lawrence Edward Janes and Bernice Alberta (Crews) Janes on April 4, 1946, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life March 25, 2014, at her home in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 67 years.

She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, David Paul Reynolds, on April 14, 1963, at Thayer, Missouri.

She is survived by her husband and sweetheart of fifty years, David Reynolds of the home in Rolla, Missouri; one daughter, Traci Fox and husband, Bobby of Rome, New York; two twin grandchildren, Landon David Mathews and Lauren Olivia Mathews of Steelville, Missouri; one niece; one nephew; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Janes; her mother, Bernice Janes; one brother, Larry Janes; and her beloved son, Mark David Reynolds.

She was employed for several years as the business manager for an automotive company and in her spare time, she enjoyed reading a good book.

After retirement, Ruthann and David grew even closer as husband and wife and the best of friends. They enjoyed traveling, the hobby of collecting, and most of all, enjoying the pleasures of life together.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by all.

Charles David Honeycutt was born the son of Otto Honeycutt and Grace (Hackworth) Honeycutt on May 2, 1948 at Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life March 23, 2014 at West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 65 years.

He was united in marriage on May 27, 1967 at Garfield, Missouri, to Linda Skelley.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Honeycutt of the home in Thayer, Missouri; three sons, Bill Honeycutt and wife, Carrie, Steve Honeycutt and wife, Lisa, and Davie Honeycutt, all of Thayer, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Zach Honeycutt and wife, Lexi of Glendive, Montana, Morgan Cotham and husband, Stefan, Aaron Honeycutt, Molly Honeycutt, Ashley Honeycutt, Aniston Honeycutt, and Cayson Honeycutt, all of Thayer, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Kinsley with two on the way, Levi and Paislee; one brother, Eddie Honeycutt and wife, Mary Jane; five sisters, Lucille Underwood and husband, Ralph, Sue Burkhead and husband, Bill, Linda Kay Brewer and husband, Junior, Brenda Garrison and husband, David, and Lana Chester and husband, Rick; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Grace Honeycutt; one granddaughter, Meghan Honeycutt; and his father and mother-in-law, Pete and Helen Skelley.

David was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a skilled carpenter, building many beautiful homes, offices, and other structures in the area. Not only was David known for his carpenter trade, but as a master builder for God’s Kingdom.

After being called into the ministry, David pastored several churches in the Cave Springs Free Will Baptist Association and is presently pastor of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

He was a humble man with a passion to serve God to the fullest and to serve his fellow man with a servant’s heart. David strived to live every aspect of his life based on the foundation of God’s Word. He was a true example of a Christian life well lived with truth and integrity.

His life will be remembered as a testimony of his faith in Christ and the Cross.

He was a devoted and loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and the community in which he lived.

Frank Martin “Tex” Jedlicka was born the son of Charlie Jedlicka and Setma (Wendel) Jedlicka on May 20, 1924, in Llano, Texas, and departed this life March 22, 2014, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.

He was united in marriage on March 13, 1964 in Tijuana, Mexico, to Betty Frances Sloan.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Betty Jedlicka of Koshkonong, Missouri; two sons, Michael Wayne Jedlicka of Koshkonong, and Martin Dale Jedlicka and wife, Tonya of Koshkonong; one daughter, Melody Faye Simpson and husband, Robert of Koshkonong; two granddaughters, Teanna Simpson and Caitlin Jedlicka; one grandson, Cody Jedlicka; extended family, Kelly Phenix, and wife, Tonya, along with their children, Hunter and Kinsey of Madisonville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dane Mark Jedlicka; one brother, Waldemar John Jedlicka; and one sister, Minnie Mae Dildine.

Frank was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was a squad leader in the North Appenines and Po Valley campaigns and was awarded the EAME Ribbon with two bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Ribbon, and the Bronze Star Medal.

Tex was a well-known Registered Charolais Cattle Rancher. He spent a lifetime striving to improve the genetics of his cattle herd. He was instrumental in the family business of showing and exhibiting cattle. Through the years, he and his family have won numerous awards in livestock shows and expos. He enjoyed working his cattle and spending time with his family. His favorite past-time was bragging on his grandchildren.

He was a member of D.A.V. chapter 43 in West Plains.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed.

Graveside services for Mr. Jedlicka will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Redburn Cemetery in Rover, Missouri with Brother Chuck Allen officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri on Monday, March 24^th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Eula Mae England was born the daughter of Rodney Anderson and Rosie (Wise) Anderson on June 24, 1920, in Hardy, Arkansas, and departed this life March 18, 2014, in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 93 years.

She was united in marriage at Hardy, Arkansas in 1942 to Ira Taylor England, who preceded her in death on February 17, 1990. To this union one daughter was born, Norma Jean England.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Jean England-Costner of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandsons, Randall Costner and Jason Costner, both of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Beulah England of Hardy, Arkansas; three nieces, Wilma Stockton, Jana Allen, and Andrea Anderson; three nephews, James Rodney Anderson, Joe Anderson, and John Anderson; several grand nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law and the nieces and nephews of the England family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodney and Rosie Anderson; her husband, Ira England; one brother, Rodney E. Anderson and one niece, Tammy Danahay.

Eula worked as a nurse in the 1940’s and as an office clerk at Cherokee Village in the 1950’s.

She was interested in poetry and inspirational prose and had acquired an impressive collection of publications.

Eula was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Baptist Church in Hardy, Arkansas.

She loved her family and treasured her friendships. She will truly be missed by all.

Richard Leath Robinson was born the son of Charles Lee Robinson and Mary Ann (Nebura) Robinson on September 24, 1924, in Downs, Kansas, and departed this life on March 12, 2014, at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.

He was united in marriage at Clifton Free Will Baptist Church, near Thayer, Missouri in 1991, to Edith (Bates) Summers.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Robinson of the home in Thayer; one daughter, Barbara Robinson-Driggs; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; six step-children, James, Mary, Shirley, Jean, Ella, and Mark; two brothers, Lewis L. Robinson and Wyndell Robinson; two sisters, Augusta Linson and Barbara Woodward; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Ann Robinson; and one sister, Betty Lue Robinson.

Richard was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands during World War II. He was awarded three bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and The Purple Heart.

He worked hard; most of his life in the sawmill. He enjoyed playing solitaire, reading westerns, doing word searches, and working with Edith in their garden.

He was a member of Clifton Free Will Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Anita Faye (Ellison) Branstetter was born the daughter of Roy Ellison and Opal (Wilkening) Ellison on March 29, 1936, in Fulton County, Arkansas, and departed this life on March 7, 2014, at her home near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, at the age of 77 years.

She is survived by her companion, Jim Carl of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, Terry Branstetter and wife, Sarah of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jesse Branstetter and wife, Cassie of West Plains, Missouri, Cody Branstetter of Springfield, Missouri, Emily and Nolan Branstetter both of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one great grandson, Kyler Branstetter of West Plains, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Opal Ellison.

Anita was employed by AT&T in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring after thirty-six years, seven months, and seven days of service. After her retirement, she returned to the family farm where she enjoyed caring for her cows, goats and other farm animals including her dogs, Buddy and Mary, and her cats, Puddy Cat, Reba, Trace, Mildred and numerous other cats.

She was a Christian and will be remembered as a loving companion, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will truly be missed by all.

Graveside services for Ms. Branstetter will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in the Sturgeon Cemetery, near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends at the Sturgeon Cemetery on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the service time.

Barbara (Youngman) Cochran was born the daughter of George Albert Youngman and Delores (Sciberras) Youngman on January 24, 1935 in Senglea, Malta, and departed this life on March 7, 2014, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 79 years.

She was united in marriage on July 19, 1958 at Norwich, England, to Archie Ray Cochran, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1979.

She is survived by her four children, Debbie Lee Miller and husband, Steven of Cabot, Arkansas, Kimberly Sue Hart and husband, Jim of Thayer, Missouri, George Ray Cochran and wife, Sheron of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Pamela Marie Busch and husband, Danny of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren, Justin Roldan of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Noah Roldan and wife, Courtney of Cabot, Arkansas, Amy Torres of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jessica Parker and husband, Justin of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Amy Scott and husband, Sam of Batesville, Arkansas, James Hart of Tallahassee, Florida, Joseph Hart of Springfield, Missouri, Brandon Couchman and wife, Jessica of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Nicole Cochran of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Shaina Turner and husband, Travis of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Daniel Busch and wife, Heather of Salem, Arkansas, and Kylee Leath and husband, Andrew of Jonesboro, Arkansas; nineteen great grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Dent and husband, Freddie of England; several nieces, nephews, and other loved relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie Ray; one sister, Gladys Woodcock; and one brother, Richard Brekkon.

Barbara was an avid shopper of clothes, shoes and plants. She was a constant knitter, never sitting still. Ladies at aerobics, nor Sweetie, could keep up with her.

She was a member of the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ with faith in the promises of Jesus, her Saviour.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister-in-law and nana, as well as, a dear friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
