Bobby Joe Wicker was born the son of Nathaniel A. Wicker and Vertie L. (Armstrong) Wicker on March 1, 1935, in Oregon County, Missouri, and departed this life on March 12, 2017, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, at the age of 82 years.
He was united in marriage on May 25, 1955, in Salem, Illinois, to Anita Ehrhardt, who preceded him in death on May 18, 1983. He was united in marriage on August 23, 1988, to Linda (McGhee) Taylor at Salem, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Wicker of the home in Myrtle, Missouri; three daughters, Kimberly Ann Davis and husband, Ron of Thayer, Missouri, Tammy Bearden of Myrtle, Missouri, and Shelly Wicker and husband, Dewayne of Jonesboro, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Jarrod Wicker, Brittany Komm, Courtney Wicker, Tommy Wicker, and Brianna Crase; three great grandchildren, William, Hattie, and Creedance; two brothers, Herbert Wicker of Jonesboro, Arkansas and William Wicker of Indiana; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Than and Lois Wicker; his first wife, Anita Wicker; his son, Michael Wicker; one grandson, Jacob Bearden; and one brother, Robert Lee Wicker.
During his working years, Bobby Joe was a truck driver, a diesel mechanic, and worked in the timber industry.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and playing a good game of cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Delhalf Church of Christ and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the community in which he lived.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, with Mike Stone officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00 until service time at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
Services will be under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
