Asa Bartee Garrison, Jr. was born the son of Asa Bartee Garrison, Sr. and Mary Anola (Honeycutt) Garrison on January 27, 1936, in Myrtle, Missouri, and departed this life July 7, 2015, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 79 years.
He was united in marriage on September 8, 1956, at Alton, Missouri, to Arnetta Nadine Case, and to this union four children were born, Pam, Van, Don, and Randy.
He is survived by three children, Pam DuBois of Myrtle, Missouri, Van Garrison and wife, Diane of Thayer, Missouri, and Don Garrison and wife, Shelly of Myrtle, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Erica Reynolds and Dewy DuBois, both of Hillsboro, Missouri, Shaina DuBois of Myrtle, Missouri, Brandon Childers, Miriah Childers, Amy Cypret, Annie Selfors, and Josh Garrison, all of Thayer, Missouri, Jamie Garrison of Springfield, Missouri, Amanda Floer of Leavenworth, Kansas, Asa Bartee Garrison, III of Myrtle, Missouri, Amelia Crowder of Couch, Missouri, and Anthony Garrison and Brandy Garrison, both of Thayer, Missouri; nineteen great grandchildren, Morgan and Zach Reynolds, Abigail, Hannah and Rachel DuBois, Madison and Gabrielle DuBois, Adeline and Jasper Cypret, Caden Selfors, Gage Garrison, Emma, Olivia, and Julie Floer, Parker, Riley and Ty Crowder, Cailee and Camryn Garrison and one unborn great grandchild; his brother, Jim Garrison and wife, Erma of Myrtle, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Anola Garrison, and one son, Randall Asa Garrison.
Asa was a graduate of Couch High School. He was employed as a brakeman/conductor with Frisco Railroad, retiring in 1983 after many years of service.
He loved deer hunting, his horse, Valentine, and going on trail rides. Asa enjoyed working on his farm, raising horses, cattle, and goats, and in his spare time, attending auctions.
He attended the Byrd Free Will Baptist Church and will truly be missed by his family, friends, and the community in which he lived.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 11th, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Richard Todd and Brother Joe Garrison officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 10th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
Burial will be in the Byrd Cemetery at Myrtle, Missouri.
