John E. Clausing was born on October 12, 1937 in Jeff, Missouri, the son of John Clausing and Laura Price Clausing, and departed this life on December 3, 2020 in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 83.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Fry on July 17, 1978 in Bucklin, Missouri who preceded him in death on July 3, 2003.
John is survived by two children, Jennifer Clausing Smith and her husband, Thomas, and Kyla Ruggles; two step-children, Martin Huffman and his wife, Stacy and Cindy Nichols; two sisters, Martha Shrum and Lou Boehm and her husband, Earl; ten grandchildren, Tammy Clausing, Terry Clausing. Shawna Smith, Thomas J. Smith, Piper Ruggles, Tessa Ruggles, Tanner Huffman, Kelsie Landreth, Danny Smith and Alexis Smith; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Clausing; two children, Kirk Clausing and Edward Clausing; three sisters, Barbara Nemecek, Mildred Meeker, and Mary McComb; and one brother, Rudolph Clausing.
John was a Christian and of the Lutheran faith.
He graduated from Couch High School in 1957 and competed professionally in rodeos. He won many awards and continued his rodeo career for many years. John then became a farmer, raising cattle.
John liked to talk and was a good storyteller. He was a vendor at several flea markets, which he loved to do. He loved going to Indian powwows
He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on December 12th at Jeff Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with Jarvis Reed officiating.
Burial will be in Jeff Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
A Celebration of Life will be held following the graveside service at Delhalf Church of Christ in Myrtle, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Delhalf Church of Christ.
