Edgar Lavon Callahan was born in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, the son of Dollie Callahan and Lora Banks Callahan on December 5, 1939 and departed this life on September 4, 2020 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 80 years.
He was united in marriage to Kathryn L. Flynn on November 22, 1956 in Kahoka, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Callahan of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one daughter, Linda Humphrey and her husband, Bobby of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, Donnie Callahan and his wife, Cindy of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Terry Humphrey and his wife, Jennifer, Kristy Blue and her husband, Jordan, and Stacey Jones and her husband, Jeremy; five great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Richard Sadler; one brother, Chuck Callahan and his wife, Sharon; two sisters, Regina Rakoczy and her husband, Wally and Donna Fraley and her husband, Jim; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; special family, Judy Smith, James Reed, Tom Smith and his wife, Jay and Warren Dolphus; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie and Lora Callahan; and two children, Ronald Callahan and Roberta Sadler.
Lavon was a Christian and a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
Lavon, with his wife Kathryn, manufactured Rebel camper shells for many years.
He was a member and team leader of the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Arkansas. He also was very involved with Shining Light Food Pantry in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and the Thayer Food Pantry in Thayer, Missouri
He will truly be missed by his family and all that knew him.
Funeral services for Edgar Lavon Callahan will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with Brother Charles Morgan officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 6, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
Burial will be on Sunday, September 6, 2020 in Fryatt Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

My heart goes out to you all…. Lavon was so precious to so many of us in the community. He treated everyone like family. We are certainly going to miss him and he will always hold a special place in our hearts. If there is anything you need or that we can do, please let us know. Dearest Uncle, I will miss your heart , your laughter, and your sense of humor. I know you rejoice with angels, and I will be forever grateful that God blessed me with you.
