Steven Charles Heflin was born July 19, 1951 in Batesville, Arkansas. He was the only child of Elwynn Parris “Al” Heflin and Atha Claudine (Garner) Heflin. He died Monday, September 10 after a two-year, hard-fought battle with cancer.
He graduated in 1970 with the class of Highland High School in Arkansas. Steven learned and worked along with his father in the carpentry business, which he did for many years.
He moved to West Plains in 1988 where he worked for Feller Construction and Junior Cromer Construction before working for John Deere from 1994 to 2010.
On November 18, 1989 he was married to Anita Hickman.
Over the years Steven became quite the sports fan and started collecting sports memorabilia. His football team was the Oakland Raiders and his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. In addition to being a sports fan, he also loved exotic and domestic cars. He went to several auctions and car shows over the years. One of his greatest joys and pride was his red Ferrari Testarossa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Anita (Hickman) Heflin, of the family home. He is also survived by an uncle and aunt, Linn and Willie Garner of Ash Flat, Arkansas; an aunt, Margaret (Garner) Brennan, also of Ash Flat, Arkansas; cousins, Julea (Garner) Hall and husband, Brien; Tom Garner and wife, Shelley, and one second cousin, Lilly (Garner) Hall. He is also survived by many friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Carter Funeral Home, Inc., at 1:00 p.m. Following services, he will be interred at Wiles Cemetery at Ash Flat, Arkansas. Body will lie in state Friday, September 14 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Plains City Dog Pound and the West Plains Animal Shelter.

Just googled Steve and found this posting . We hadn’t contact in years and sorry for that and now I find he has past 9 years ago . We weren’t close but seems I’m the Las Heflin standing
