Helen Pearl Orahood was born in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, the daughter of Paul Herbert Orahood and Othel Fannie Hunt Orahood on September 9, 1929 and departed this life on April 12, 2019 at West Vue Nursing and Rehab in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 89 years.

She is survived by her nephew, Herb Orahood and wife, Melodi, of Thayer, Missouri; her niece, Susan Raynor and husband, Eric, of Benson, North Carolina; great nieces and nephews, Cicily Jenkins and family, Brad Orahood and family, Gaston Orahood, Emily Raynor and Jack Raynor; one sister-in-law, Glenda Orahood; other relatives; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Othel Orahood; and one brother, Paul Albert Orahood.

Helen was a Christian and member of the First United Methodist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. She spent many years as a buyer for Reed-Harlin Grocery in West Plains, Missouri. She also worked as a bank teller at Simmons Bank, retiring after many dedicated years of service.

She was an intelligent woman, graduating as valedictorian of her high school class. Helen loved traveling to Branson with her mother to attend shows.

In later years, her favorite thing to do was shop. She loved finding a bargain and when she was not able to be out shopping, she would shop on the television-shopping network, QVC.
Helen spent a lot of her time caring for her family. She was a kind-hearted, hard working lady who will be remembered as a loving and caring aunt, sister and a friend to all. She will truly be missed by all that knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Thayer Cemetery will Brother David Ball officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 12:00 to 1:45 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
