Ronald Leamon Combs was born the son of Leamon Combs and Ada Roberts Combs on February 19, 1949, in Couch, Missouri, and departed this life April 7, 2018, at his home near Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 69 years.
He was united in marriage on December 14, 1985, at the Cotton Creek Church in Couch, Missouri, to the love of his life, Darlene Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Combs of the home in Thayer, Missouri; three children, Daryl Johnston and wife, Amber of Thayer, Christy Stogsdill and husband, James of Harrisburg, Missouri, and Darron Combs and wife, Aminta of Thayer; six grandchildren, Tyler Johnston, Miley Johnston, Trenton Johnston, Ethan Stodsdill, Alex Stogsdill, and Keili Combs; two sisters, Norma Risner of Springfield, Missouri and Wanda Melton of Couch, Missouri; a special uncle and two special aunts, Devert and Ruth Combs of Fenton, Missouri and Inis Roberts of Thayer; nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives; and a host of friends.
Ron was blessed to have wonderful Christian parents, Leamon and Ada Combs, who preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of the Couch High School, graduating with the class of 1967.
Ron graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in Agriculture. Upon graduation, he taught in the Agriculture Department of Alton R-IV School District.
Ron began his real estate career in 1972. He thoroughly enjoyed his lifetime endeavor in the real estate business, especially working with his family. He and Darlene were very successful owners and brokers of Century 21 Combs and Associates, making many friends and lasting relationships throughout the years.
He was a member of the Army National Guard, a cattle farmer, local businessman, served on the Couch School Board, was an officer with the State School Board Association, served on the committee to organize a Thayer Boys and Girls Club, and served as Oregon County Public Administrator.
Ron was a Christian man and an active member of the Thayer Gideon Camp. He was also a member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as Sunday School Teacher and Church Trustee.
Ron had a love for people, compassion for helping others, and was truly a family man.
His greatest earthly possession was his wife, children, and grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. He will truly be missed by his family, church family, and the community in which he lived.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri, with Brother Richard Robinson and Brother Joe Garrison officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
Interment will be in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made in Ron’s memory to the Gideon International and may be left at the funeral home.
