Pamela L. Johnson was born the daughter of Eldridge T. Sherrell and Faye (Ballard) Sherrell on December 2, 1953, in Batesville, Arkansas, and departed this life on January 14, 2017, at her home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, at the age of 63 years.
She was united in marriage on September 18, 1981, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, to Joe Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Johnson, of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; two sons, Tim Johnson and wife, Donna of Springfield, Arkansas and Tony Johnson and wife, Tina of Center Ridge, Arkansas; one daughter, Natasha Clark of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; mother-in-law, June Johnson of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Sherrell of Joplin, Missouri; one sister, Billie Prewett of West Plains, Missouri; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; very special friends, Alan and Sarah Sherrell of Oxford, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldridge and Faye Sherrell; her father-in-law, Harold Johnson; and two sisters, Joyce Bryant and Lena Dockins.
Pamela worked in the health care field all of her working years. She was the first company nurse for Southwest Truck Body in West Plains, Missouri and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years at area health facilities, including Fulton County Hospital, Baxter Regional Medical Center, Ozarks Medical Center and White River Medical Center.
She was instrumental in starting the gift shop in Fulton County Hospital and was also Director of Volunteers.
Pamela was a very caring and compassionate person, always putting the needs of others before herself.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother, cherished grandmother, dear sister, and friend to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring, with Brother Charles Morgan officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 17th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to the Fulton County Hospital Gift Shop in Salem, Arkansas.
