A memorial service for Earl Lloyd Vandermark, 86, West Plains, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011, in the Jehovah Witness Hall on highway 160.
Earl died at 9:00 pm., Monday, September 12, 2011 at his resident farm. He was born October 9, 1924 at Peach Orchard, Arkansas to Urshel Vandermark and Vera Carroll Vandermark. Earl served in the U.S. Army during WW II. On July 18, 1944, he married Dorothy Hayes at El Monte, California.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Vandermark of the home; his daughter, Cheryl Hicks, West Plains; two grandchildren, Charles Hicks, wife, Amelia, St. Louis, Missouri, and Sheri Thompson, West Plains; five great-grandchildren, Kendra Thompson, Marianne Hicks, Everett Hicks, Shearylin Thompson, and Beau Hicks; two sisters, Opal Fisher, Appleton, Wisconsin and Jackie Littlefield, Pensacola, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Urshel and Vera Vandermark and his brother, James Vandermark.
Earl will be remembered for his love of fishing, his ability to use his hands and creative ideas to build anything, his one of a kind personality, the fact that he never met a stranger, and his love for Jehovah.
