Wayne W. Thompson passed away peacefully after a short illness on November 22, 2017 at Brooke Haven Nursing Home.
He died shortly after celebrating his 90 birthday. He had a card shower with over 100 cards.
He was born Oct, 2, 1927 to the late Otis A. Thompson and Virgie M. Weatherly Thompson.
He was a lifetime resident of West Plains. He was called Grandad by great-niece Linda Brown, great-nephews Scott Brown, Johnny Spencer, Joey Spencer, Chris Trimble, Lee Fox & Darren Fox. He was Uncle Wayne to a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
He was a volunteer at Ozarks Medical Center from 1988 to 2008. He also worked with youth juveniles in Judicial District 37 of West Plains, Missouri from 2010 to 2015.
He became a member of the Masonic Lodge – Sheffield 627 of Kansas City in 1967 and in 2010 transferred to the Thomasville unit.
He is survived by a sister Dorothy and Neil Jones, brother-in-law Clyde and Maxine Napier, brother-in-law Billy and Lena Napier and sister-in-law Lola Napier.
Those who preceded him in death was his loving wife Laverne (Napier) Thompson, his parents Otis and Virgie Thompson, a sister Ruby Lassiter, and brothers Wendall, Othel, and Don.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in West Plains, Missouri. There will also be Masonic Rites before the service.
