William Robert (Bill) McGuire was born August 10, 1940 in Redlands, California, and passed away September 8, 2017 in West Plains, Missouri. Bill will be remembered by his family and friends as a mentor and caring person. His quick mind and dry sense of humor was such an enjoyment, and will be missed.
He was accomplished at so many things in his life. He loved sports, especially baseball. In his younger years, he was an outstanding baseball pitcher. He pitched two no-hitters, (one a perfect game), and was voted Most Valuable Player when in high school. He entered municipal government service with the City of Redlands at age 19 and it became his life’s work. Starting as an entry level file clerk, he rose to the position of Finance Director as well as City Manager of multiple cities over a 45+ year career. He also loved his life as a gentleman rancher. Over the years he had orchards, cattle and American Quarter Horses. He enjoyed competing in sheepdog trials with several of his Border Collies he trained through the years.
Bill is survived by the following: Pam his wife, Sister Dorothy Boyce and husband Larry, Brother David McGuire and wife Mary Ellen, children Mike McGuire and wife Donna, Kim McGuire Bryant and husband Kirk, Kelly McGuire Ebner and husband Werner, step children Maureen Barnett and husband Rial, Deana Tison and husband Ryan. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford, mother Roberta, sister Barbara, and brother Ed. He also had 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren with another due in October.
There will be a get together of friends and family at the Caulfield Community Center Thursday September 14, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Please come and celebrate Bill’s life with us.

I feel fortunate to have known Bill for many years. Bill was warm, (very) funny, and immensely proud of his family. This picture is how I will always remember him. I will cherish his memory.
