Julious “Leon” Martin, 86, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on September 6, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Leon was born on September 11, 1939, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, to Noel Martin and Catherine (Cook) Martin.
Leon worked on the railroad as a tie-rod laborer. He was an avid fisherman throughout his life and spent many happy days along the riverside with a fishing pole in hand. Leon also had a special love for his dogs, who were never far from his side, whether he was relaxing in his recliner or working the land.
Leon took great pride in his home and yard and enjoyed landscaping—often taking his love of landscaping to the extreme. His love of the outdoors, his animals, and the simple pleasures of life were a meaningful part of who he was.
Leon is survived by his brother, Earl Martin; niece, Laura Martin-Rake; great-nephew, Billy Martin Jr. (Tywana); and great-nieces, Sally Ann Arredondo, Deanna Stephens, Amy Gail Stephens, and Sarah Rae Reed.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon Martin and Leland Martin; sisters, Lorene Martin, Velma Rogers, and Ruby Parlmey; and nephews, Billy Martin Sr., Dean Martin, Edward Martin, Allan Martin, and Marlin Martin.
Leon will be remembered by his family and loved ones for his independent spirit, his love of fishing and the outdoors, his devotion to his dogs, and the many memories he created throughout his life.
A visitation will be on September 10, 2026, at 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. to be followed by a funeral service at 2:00p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, in Thayer, Missouri. Burial will be at the Field Creek Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
