    Evalena McFann, 95, of Myrtle, Missouri passed away on March 15, 2025 at Shepherd’s View Assisted Living in Alton, Missouri. She was born on October 14,1929, in Myrtle, Missouri to Ernest Osborne Cox and Naomi Brewer Cox. On July 7, 1951, she married George “Noel” McFann in the preacher’s living room in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

    Evalena worked at the Myrtle Post Office as an assistant postmaster. She had a passion for quilting, and she thoroughly enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Evalena had an incredible memory and never forgot a family member’s birthday.  

    Evalena is survived by two children, Adell Morris and Ralph McFann, five grandchildren; Amanda Rather (Kelly), Angela Hamilton (Alex), Bradley Morris, Jake McFann, and Gus McFann, five great-grandchildren; Adilynn Newberry, Kinley Newberry, Embree Rather, Byrlee Rather and Afton Hamilton, a host of nieces and nephews, a special friend, Mary Ruth Combs, many friends and staff members at the Shepherd’s View Assisted Living.

Evalena is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse and one infant sister.

She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be at the Carter Funeral Chapel of Thayer, Missouri on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral will be at the Carter Funeral Chapel of Thayer, Missouri on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be at the Jeff Cemetery of Thayer, Missouri on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. 

Officiating will be Minister David Albright. Pallbearers will be Jake McFann, Gus McFann, Keith McFann, Bradley Morris, David Powell and Sherman Garrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kelly Rather and Alex Hamilton.

    Ralph and family, I am very sad and sorry to hear of the loss of Evalena. She was such a sweet and kind lady. I always enjoyed talking with her and giving her a hug each time I saw her in the clinic. She will be greatly missed by so many. You are in my prayers.
