Melvin “Toby” Elije Turnbull, son of Ruby (Collins) Turnbull, and the late John “Bud” Elvon Turnbull, was born January 19th, 1973, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He went to be with his loved ones who have been waiting for him with our Lord on December 26th, 2023 at the age of 50 years.
Melvin, fondly known as Toby, was a logger by profession, a Christian by faith, a farmer by choice, and a big family man with an even bigger heart. He left this world doing what he loved. His legacy lives on through his friends and family. To know him was to love him, and the grief we feel now is that love continuing on.
He is preceded in death by his father John Elvon Turnbull; his paternal grandparents Eslie and Bernice Turnbull; his maternal grandparents Bert and Dovie Collins; and his brother Ronnie Turnbull.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years Sheri Turnbull of the family home, along with their five sons: Alex Davault and his wife Kim and their daughters Aurora and Naomi (all of Vanzant); John Turnbull and his partner Ramon (of Little Rock); Samuel Turnbull and his wife Taylor and daughters Evelyn and Lyla (all of Dora); Clayton Turnbull and his wife Courtney and son Brantley (of Dora); and Ronnie Turnbull of Dora. His mother Ruby Turnbull survives him along with his brothers and their wives: Bruce and Amanda; Dennis; and Jim and Sarah. He has 3 uncles: Terry Collins of Siloam Springs, Ralph Turnbull of West Plains, and Wayne Turnbull of Arkansas. He leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews including Sarah Causey and her husband Robbie and their kids Ryan and Shelby; Sheri Thompson and her kids Jalee, Brice, Ruby, Teri, and Edward; Brandon Turnbull and his wife Samantha and their kids Korina, Allison, and Braxton; Mckayla Kendrick, Nicole Turnbull, Jacob Turnbull, and Julie and Joe Olsen. He is also survived by his good friend Bud Scherer.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Douglas County, Missouri, officiated by Pastor Bud Scherer, and under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, Missouri.
