Lois (Waggoner) Barton, 88 of West Plains, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, in West Plains, Missouri. She was born January 15, 1934, in Alton, Missouri to Herman and Alta (Bettis) Waggoner.
Lois was united in marriage to Melvin Barton on July 10, 1952. They were married for 70 wonderful years and had three children during their time together.
Lois accepted Christ into her life at the age of fourteen and served him the rest of her life. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and everyone loved being in her class. She was full of life and loved being with her family and friends. She loved helping her husband on their farm, being a homemaker and raising her family. Lois will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Lois is survived by three children, Dan (Kay) of Nixa, Missouri, Dennis (Sandy) of Alton, Missouri, and Melba (Randy) Johnson of West Plains, Missouri; six grandchildren, Rek, Broc, Blaz (Julie), Brandon (Chelse), Brooke and Brianna; two great-grandchildren, Kolby and Karly; two sisters-n-laws, Carolee of Thayer, Missouri and Nadine of Alton, Missouri; three brothers-n-laws, Gordon (Donna) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Carlos (Marietta) of Marthasville, Missouri, and Curtis (Linda) of Springfield, Missouri; along with many nieces and nephews.
Lois is proceeded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Bois Waggoner; three brothers-in-laws, Willard and Millard Barton Wayne Forrester; sister-in-law, Fern Forrester; her father-in-law Elgan Barton and her mother-in-law Bonnie (Sanders) Barton.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 11, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.
Interment will follow the service at Cave Springs Cemetery in Alton, Missouri.
