  Robert “Bob” Gene Sorrell, age 91, of Myrtle, Missouri, passed away May 19,2024 in West Plains, Missouri, surrounded by loved ones. Bob was born October 27,1932, in Myrtle, Missouri, to Finis E. and Lillie Emma (Risner) Sorrell.

  Bob married the love of his life Mary Lou Boyd on June 4, 1952, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Within this marriage four children were born, and they were happily married for 71 years.

  Bob loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. In his younger days he tried out for short stop for the St. Louis Browns. He enjoyed gun trading, gun shows, quail hunting and basketball. But above all things he loved his family and spending time with them.

  He was a member of Myrtle Freewill Baptist Church and was a faithful follower of God. Bob will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

  He is survived by one son, Bobby (Tammy) Sorrell of Gatewood, Missouri; one daughter, Stacee (Dave) Peters, of West Plains, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; one sister, Mable Jo Gardner of Springfield, Missouri; one brother-in-law, George Boyd (Mary Lou) of Doniphan, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

  He is proceeded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter Mary Catherine Sorrell; one son Finis Boyd Sorrell; two brothers; and one sister. 

  Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Sorrell, age 91, of Myrtle, Missouri, will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

  Interment will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Myrtle Cemetery, Myrtle, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

    I thought the world of Bob, he was a Superman, and loved his family very much, I had not seen Bob in several years, he loved to bring people
    to the Ozark cafe here in West Plains, I know he liked the Cardinals and Couch Basketball. Sorry for his passing, everyone in the Couch area
    will miss him !!
