Thomas H. Powell was born in Thayer, Missouri, the son of H.H. Powell and Mary C. Buehler Powell on December 4, 1930 and departed this life on July 4, 2019 at his home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 88 years.
He was united in marriage to Jessa Nell Brewer on April 25, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. They spent sixty-six wonderful years together.
He is survived by his wife, Jessa Nell Powell of the home in Thayer, Missouri; three children, David W. Powell of Thayer, Missouri, Stephen P. Powell of Basin, Wyoming and Susan M. Powell of Denver, Colorado; one grandson, Ben D. Powell of Alabama; other relatives; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.H. and Mary Powell; and one sister, Glendora Sharp.
Tom was a Christian and active member of the Clifton Freewill Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri. He spent many years as a Deacon and Superintendent of the church.
He was a prominent dairy farmer, spending most of his life working with cattle and tending to his farm. During his free time, he loved to go fishing.
Tom will truly be missed by his family and the neighborhood in which he lived.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
Family will receive friends on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 1:00 PM until the service time at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be held at the Thayer Cemetery following the service with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
