Sue was born the daughter of Arch and Lora Martin Cochran in Camp, Arkansas on May 12, 1935, and died February 2, 2024, at Cedarhurst of West Plains, Missouri at 88 years of age.

She was united in marriage on June 25, 1955, in Thayer, Missouri to Leroy Virgil Poulette. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2020, before his passing the following October.

Sue is survived by two children, Dennis Poulette and wife, Genia, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Debbie Hyde and husband, Rusty, Thayer, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jared Poulette, Joshua Poulette and Stephanie, Jennifer Crask and Steven, and Jordan Roberson and Brandon; six great grandchildren, Ellie and Michael Poulette, Adler and Audie Crask, Lennon and Kix Roberson, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents Arch and Lora Cochran; her husband Leroy Poulette; five brothers; Wayne Spoor, Eugene Cochran, Archie Ray Cochran, Sam Cochran, and Ollie Cochran, and five sisters; Eleanora Dodd, Mildred Jean Mehen, Carol McGuire and infant sisters, Betty Lou Cochran and Brenda Lea Cochran.

Sue was a member of the First Baptist Church, Thayer, Missouri, since August 1971. She loved her Church family and any events the church had that she could be a part of. She and Leroy really enjoyed later in life sitting in the foyer of the church with close friends Larry and Beverly Harris and greet each person who came in. Sue and Leroy raised beef cattle and pigs and she was involved in feeding and raising those animals when Leroy was “out on the train”. She prepared many meals that she would take to whatever field Leroy was combining or haying to be sure he was fed and happy. Being outside growing beautiful flowers and feeding birds, squirrels and hummingbirds were Sue’s favorite pastimes. She dreaded winter and loved spring. Sue loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time and many holidays and vacations with her parents and siblings as well as her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Sue and Leroy drove many miles just to watch their grandkids in whatever activities they were involved in.  She was very compassionate about taking care of others whether it was her parents, siblings, kids or grandkids, she was always there doing whatever she could to help out. She was the ultimate planner of all get-togethers and liked being in charge of those events. In their early years, Sue and Leroy enjoyed traveling (many times on their Harley Davidson motorcycle), playing cards with their friends, and trips to the lake. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for anyone she met. With a fun personality and quick wit, she will truly be missed by family and friends.

Sue spent her career as a dental assistant for Dr. Gary Lack, Dr. John Petty and Dr. Mike Kersey. Later she became the “front office girl”, meeting the public, answering the phone, scheduling, coding, filing and whatever else was needed for Dr. Kersey and she loved that job. Sue was very social so that position suited her perfectly. The Kersey’s and their staff became like family to her during her 27 years in his office not retiring until she was 77 years old.

Sue spent her last years in Memory Care at Cedarhurst of West Plains where she received loving care and was thought of as family. “Sue Bug” as they called her, continued her quick wit and beautiful smile until the end.

A force of nature, Sue was always by Leroy’s side and will be sorely missed. She gave me great comfort after my father’s passing and I will miss her, too.
