Shelley Gail Cowen, daughter of Hurley Cowen and Carma Hall, was born in West Plains, Missouri on March 12, 1963, and departed this life on March 22, 2022, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 59 years.

She is survived by her bonus mother, Marion Cowen of Fryatt, AR; one brother, Randy Cowen and wife Stacey, of Koshkonong, Missouri; stepsiblings David (Linda) Pearce of Missouri, Thomas Pearce of California, and Kate Pearce of Kansas; daughter, Jessica Ramon and husband Rey of Navasota, Texas, daughter, Jennifer Worbington and husband Ron of DeWitt, Arkansas; one son, Chance Elliott of Mountain Home, AR; Arkansas; grandchildren Gabriel and Grace of Texas, and grandchildren Chandler, Koby, and Kylee of Arkansas, special family friends Lacey and Charley Bramblett and their three children of Mountain Home, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by grandparents; parents Hurley and Carma; sisters Linda Collins and Karen Cowen; and step-brother Chris Pearce.

Shelley worked in manufacturing throughout her life. She worked at several plants, but most remembered by her girls was the turkey factory which gave them the love-hate relationship with the food. She also worked in several boat manufacturing sites and enjoyed telling about the new or different things she would see.

Shelley was blessed with the “gift of gab”, which her daughters and most of her grandchildren also inherited. She would talk to anyone about anything, everything and nothing. She never met a stranger and was friends with everyone. She loved meeting people and visiting. Her hobbies included playing cards, baking when her kids were younger, singing every song she could from the 60’s & 70’s country music era (she was really good at it), and in her later years, she loved watching tv shows. Her phone conversations had to revolve around the schedule of her shows.
She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

A private memorial will be held later this summer. Please feel free to contact her children for information.

Shelley and I met in 1987. She was pregnant with her youngest daughter Jenn, and was an exceptionally sweet person. We were instant friends and have been since. I never met a sweeter kinder soul. I loved her as dearly as any friend can. We lost touch for awhile. Then, God reached out to me to find her and I did through her daughters, my goddaughters. We picked up right where we left off. I miss her dearly. I will miss that bubbly personality, contagious smile and laughter, and beautiful souls. She will truly be missed. I can’t seem to stop crying.
