Phyllis Lynn Smith was born the daughter of John D. Owens and Elva Mae (Arnold) Owens on May 12, 1953, in Newport, Arkansas, and departed this life May 19, 2015, at her home in Myrtle, Missouri, at the age of 62 years.
She was united in marriage on October 31, 1975, at Portia, Arkansas, to Larry G. Smith.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years, Larry Smith of the family home in Myrtle, Missouri; one daughter, Laura McFann and husband, Ralph of Myrtle, Missouri; two grandsons, Gus McFann and Jake McFann of Myrtle, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elva Owens.
Phyllis had worked at Walmart in Pocahontas, Arkansas for eleven years, achieving the position of customer service manager.
Family was one of the most important things in Phyllis’ life. Larry was the love of her life; Laura, her only child, was most of all, “her best friend,” and her greatest pride and joy were her twin grandson’s, Jake and Gus, who affectionately called her “Ninny.”
Phyllis enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She loved roses, visiting with friends, sharing a good laugh, finding a good yard sale, and attending auctions.
She was a Christian lady and a faithful and active member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church.
Phyllis will be remembered as a sweet lady with a kind heart, giving spirit, and her unconditional love and devotion for her family. She was a lady of strong faith and great determination, even in the trials of her life.
Her life touched many and she will truly be missed by her family, her church family, her friends, and the community in which she lived.

Larry and Laura
I am so sorry for your loss. Phyllis was a precious lady. I will always remember first meeting her at the grocery store we had at Shannon. She and I were both expecting and we had our girls on the same day.
You are in my thoughts and prayers for comfort and strength. God bless your family.
