Othel Henry August”Junior” Mainprize was born in Washington, Missouri, the son of Othel Mainprize and Elsie Kappelmann Mainprize on January 10, 1940 and departed this life on May 30, 2019 at St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years.
He was united in marriage to Donna Montgomery on October 28, 1961 in Houston, Missouri. They spent fifty-seven wonderful years together.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Mainprize of the home, in Catoosa, Oklahoma; two sons, Michael Mainprize of Edmond, Oklahoma and Mark Mainprize and wife, Jenny, of Lexington, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Caleb Mainprize and Ashley Flores and Kacie Mainprize all of Edmond, Oklahoma and Mia Mainprize of Lexington, Kentucky; one brother, George Mainprize and wife, Rosemary, of Thayer, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Othel and Elsie Mainprize.
Othel attended college in Rolla, Missouri where he received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He then went on to work for Rockwell International as a structural design engineer, retiring after many years of dedicated service. His biggest passion was going to the lake to work on boats. He also enjoyed working on cars and building hot rods. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Othel will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 2:00 PM until service time.
Interment will be held at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri.
