Nora E. Hollis was born the daughter of Ed Storms and Maggie Combs Storms on July 28, 1924, at Jobe, Missouri, and passed September 8, 2017, in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 93 years.
She was united in marriage on January 20, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri to Royce Hollis, who preceded her in death on October 29, 2007.
She is survived by one daughter, Debbie England Grumbein and husband, Eldon of Independence, Missouri; one grandson, Josh England of Santa Monica, California; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Maggie Storms; her husband, Royce Hollis; her son, David Hollis; her granddaughter, Becky England; seven brothers and sisters, Wellie Storms, Mammie Johnson, Artha Underwood, Helen Dennis, Margie Anderson, Hughie Davis and Hallie Storms.
Nora was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
During World War II, Nora was employed as Rosie the Riveter by Boeing Aircraft in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of seventeen.
After her marriage to Royce, Nora worked for Sunshine Biscuit Factory for several years. When they moved back to Oregon County, she was actively involved in the family farm operation.
Nora had a green thumb and loved working in all her gardens. She enjoyed her flowers, crocheting, embroidering, quilting, word search puzzles, reading, and studying her Bible.
She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for her delicious chicken and dumplings.
Nora was deeply devoted to her family and will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services for Nora will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Brother David Langston, Brother Wayne Hurst, John England and Josh England officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.
Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Debbie & family…your Mother was an inspiration to those around her at Shady Oaks. We always enjoyed seeing her and are thankful for her encouragement while Mom was there. Our sympathy to her family and friends.

sorry for your loss. Her dad Ed was my uncle . I had not seen Nora in 35 + years. Sure liked her.

Debbie I am so sorry for the passing of your mom. I stopped often on my bus route and visited her at her home. She always talked about you and David with pride. I loved her very much. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
