Nancy Kay Smeby Collins, a devoted aunt, loving wife to Steve Collins, and passionate knitter, passed away on June 11, 2024, in West Plains, Missouri.

Born in Waukon, Iowa, she later moved to North Texas around 1967. Nancy attended Trinity High School, where she was an active member of the high school band, playing the flute. Her cherished family included her nieces and nephews, Kasey Lynn Smeby and Sean Allen Smeby. Surviving her are her brother, Brian Smeby, along with Robert W. Smeby and his wife, Lori Smeby, from McKinney, Texas, as well as Scott Allen Smeby and his wife, Lori Cay Smeby, from Fort Worth, Texas.

Nancy’s love for the outdoors led her to countless camping adventures with her family. Whether by the campfire or under the stars, she found solace in nature. Her passion extended to her beloved kittens, who brought her joy and comfort.

In 2003, Nancy relocated to West Plains, Missouri, with her parents and brother Brian. She embraced the community and made lasting friendships. Her knitting needles clicked rhythmically as she crafted beautiful scarves, blankets, and hats for loved ones.

Nancy’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She joins her late father, Bob Smeby, and her mother, Lila Smeby, in eternal rest. May her legacy of love, family, and creativity inspire us all.
