Mary Elizabeth Irene (Hobbs) McCutchen was born the daughter of Homer Hobbs and Hattie (Collins) Hobbs on February 11, 1934, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life November 18, 2016, at Shepherd’s View Assisted Living in Alton, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.
She was united in marriage on July 29, 1955, in Salem, Arkansas, to Charles McCutchen, who preceded her in death on December 16, 2010.
She is survived by three sons, Boyd McCutchen of Thayer, Missouri, Charlie McCutchen and wife, Teresa of Ozark, Missouri and Mike McCutchen and wife, Shirley of Thayer, Missouri; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Hattie Hobbs; her husband, Charles McCutchen; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl McCutchen; and one brother, Lloyd Hobbs and wife, Virginia.
Irene was employed by Puritan Fashions in Thayer for several years. She was later employed by Ozark Gas Company and Thayer Gas Company, working as a Secretary for many years. After her semi-retirement, she enjoyed working for Mac’s Knick-Knacks in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
She was a Christian and attended the Thayer Assembly of God Church as long as her health permitted.
Irene enjoyed yard work, growing flowers, and her many cats. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends and will truly be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Pastor Dennis Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 PM until service time.
Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Gideon International and may be left at the funeral home.

I enjoyed so much getting to know & visit with Irene at the gas company. Just a sweet, kind, and precious lady! I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Irene was a special women, mother, grandmother and friend to many. My deepest sympathy to all of the family and friends for this loss. She is walking those streets of gold now with Charles!!!

It was with a sadden surprise that I learned of the death of your mother.
I know that it is always a terrible shock when someone so close to you passes
away. Irene was loved by many and will be missed by all.
