Howard Ray Johnson, age 83, of Thayer, Missouri, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 3:02 PM at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Thelma Irene Rolen Hoyt was born to Ora Hollis Rolen and Rev. Jesse Everett Rolen on November 22, 1922, at Thayer, Missouri and departed this life on June 15, 2015, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to James Ard Hoyt on June 18, 1938.

She is survived by six children, Garry (Barbara) Hoyt of Paducah, Kentucky; Ruth (Rex) Stevens of Thayer; Janet (Calvin) Bowers of Thayer; Joe (Shelia) Hoyt of Thayer; Cynthia (Bud) Holloway of South Pekin, Illinois; Paul (Emily) Hoyt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Virginia (Jack) Moberly of Jefferson City, Missouri and Melba (Jim) Geiger of Holcomb, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years; her parents; one son, James Henry; one daughter, Dorothy Ann; three brothers, Wayne, Hurschel, and Charles Rolen; one sister, Esther Langley and one infant grandson.

Thelma was an amazing mother as she served her family. She worked hard at home making it a loving, peaceful place filled with the fragrance of Christ. She had a hug, a smile, and wholesome humor for all family and friends who visited. Always a hard worker and giving her all, in addition to keeping house, raising a family, and working on the farm, Thelma was employed at the local dress factory for twenty-eight years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

She was a wonderful cook, an excellent seamstress, making clothes for her children and grandchildren, and for a brief time, co-owned a bakery in Thayer.

When she opened her heart to the Lord at a young age, he had a plan for her, which will leave a legacy for many generations. Her love for the Lord flowed out of her like a waterfall from an everlasting spring. She faithfully worshiped at the Koshkonong Free Will Baptist Church until the Lord called her home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hoyt will be Saturday, June 20th, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother John Holesapple officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 19th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home chapel in Thayer.

Burial will be in the Arytown Cemetery near Thayer, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in her memory, to the Gideons International and may be left at the funeral home.

Darroll Keith Selfors was born the son of Nels Fredrick Selfors and Signey Berg Selfors on October 11, 1936, in Bismarck, North Dakota, and departed this life June 14, 2015, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 78 years.

He was united in marriage on September 27, 1969, in Indiana, to Doris Ellen Brunnemer, who preceded him in death on May 17, 2009.

He is survived by three children, Darroll Wade Selfors and wife, Brandy of Dalton, Georgia, Tracy Lynn Selfors and wife, Jennifer of Thayer, Missouri, and Charlie Keith Selfors and Christie Whitson of Thayer; three grandchildren, Caden Selfors of Thayer, Missouri, MaKenna Selfors and Aaron Selfors, both of Dalton, Georgia; three brothers, Duane Selfors, Rodney Selfors, and Theodore Selfors, all of Minot, North Dakota; two sisters, Lorraine Alfstad of Seattle, Washington, and Betty Barrett of Mt. Lake Terrace, Washington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Signey Selfors; his wife, Doris Selfors; three brothers, Frank, Lloyd, and Victor Selfors, and four sisters, Sigrid Schmidt, Ruth Serio, Marjorie Lakoduk, and Patricia Fimreite.

Mr. Selfors was a Veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army. While in the Army, he went to a specialist school at Ft. Leonard Wood and received training as a carpenter.

He had worked at various jobs in the Thayer area and took great pride in a hard day’s work. Later, he was employed at Marathon Electric in West Plains until his retirement.

Darroll enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandson, Caden.

He was baptized into the Lutheran faith as a young man.

He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery in Thayer.

Randall Dale Henry was born the son of Robert Dale Henry and Jessie May (Holloway) Henry on August 14, 1966, in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life on June 14, 2015, at his home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 48 years.

He was united in marriage on February 6, 1998, in Alton, Missouri, to Shirley Jean Branscum.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Henry of the family home in Thayer, Missouri; his father, Robert Henry and wife, Sue of West Plains, Missouri; two daughters, Cheyenne Renea Henry and Rebecca Lynn Henry, both of Thayer, Missouri; two step-daughters, Crystal Renee Baker and husband, John of Bucyrus, Missouri and Amanda Jean Branscum of Thayer, Missouri; one grandchild; nine step-grandchildren; one brother, Tony Henry and wife, Jeana of Mansfield, Missouri; one sister, Linda Ann Cantrell of Mansfield, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie May Henry.

Randall had worked at various jobs and took great pride in a hard day’s work. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially for deer and turkey.

He was a Christian, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind and caring man and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by all.

Funeral Services for Mr. Henry will be Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Wayne Adrian officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Wednesday evening, June 17^th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in the Norman Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Donald Austin Sellers was born the son of William Lee Sellers and Emma Eleanor (VanSickle) Sellers on November 5, 1928 in Sharp County, Arkansas, and departed this life on June 11, 2015, in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 86 years.

He was united in marriage on February 2, 1959 in Sharp County, Arkansas, to Tyma Josephine Clark.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Tyma Sellers of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one daughter, Patsy Lockley of Mammoth Spring; two sons, Donald A. Sellers, Jr. and wife, Connie of Hardy, Arkansas, and Arthur Lee Sellers and wife, Debi of Hardy; four grandchildren, Jessica Sellers, Katie Sellers, Chris Brunson and wife, Liberty, and Wesley Lockley and wife Lauren; four great grandchildren, Tyma, Patricia, Linley, and Shay; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Sellers; four brothers, Morris L. Sellers, Clifford R. Sellers, William H. Sellers and an infant brother; and two sisters, Ethel Graham and Alma Bell.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. Later, he was a farmer and worked as a clerk for the United States Post Office at Hardy, Arkansas, for more than thirty years.

He was a Christian, and the oldest member of the Spring River Baptist Church near Hardy.

He was graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, a 32^nd degree member of the Wilson Masonic Lodge #432 at Hardy, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Hardy, Lion’s Club at Highland, Arkansas, and the American Postal Workers Union.

Donald was a gentle man who enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with friends and neighbors. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed by all.

Funeral Services for Mr. Sellers will be Sunday, June 14, 2015, at 3:00 PM at the Spring River Baptist Church near Hardy, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, June 14^th at the Spring River Baptist Church from 2:00 PM until the service starts at 3:00.

Burial will be in the Bronaugh Cemetery near Hardy, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Sellers’ memory to the Bronaugh Cemetery, and may be left at the funeral home in Thayer.

Clifford Wayne Clark was born the son of Hearl Clifford Clark and Erma Grace (Hodge) Clark on October 22, 1970 in West Plains, Missouri, and departed this life on May 31, 2015 at his home in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 44 years.

He is survived by one daughter, Ashley Nicole Clark of West Plains, Missouri; one son, Alexander James Clark of West Plains, Missouri; his mother, Grace Mann of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Rick Clark and wife, Robin of Derby, Kansas; one sister, Erma Bansal of Springfield, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hearl Clifford Clark; and one son, Austin Wayne Clark.

Wayne graduated with the class of 1989, from Thayer High School in Thayer, Missouri. Later he attended ITT Technical Institute in Springfield, Missouri, where he studied computer programming and graduated with the highest honors in his class.

Wayne enjoyed spending time with Family, Computer programming and repair, Gaming, Paranormal Activity, and loved Animals.

He will truly be missed by all.

Mr. Clark’s family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday evening, June 12, 2015.

Willard Caldwell was born the son of William Thomas Caldwell and Ethel Viana (Roy) Caldwell on June 29,1918, in Billmore, Missouri, and departed this life June 9, 2015, at the age of 96 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Taylor and husband, Jerry, and Evelyn Umfleet and husband, Terry, all of Thayer, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Caldwell and wife, Shirley, and J.C. Caldwell and wife, Freda, all of Thayer, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ethel Caldwell; six brothers, Wesley, Waymon, Roy Lee, Paul, Warren, and Darrell Caldwell and one infant sister, Mary Alice Evelyn Caldwell.

Willard worked two years in the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corps) in Winona, Missouri. He also worked for the Alunia Company in Los Angeles, California, and for General Motors in St. Louis, Missouri.

After moving to Thayer, Willard purchased a farm on Warm Fork River, where he raised beef cattle and hogs.

He served as a substitute rural mail carrier and part-time clerk in the Thayer Post Office for twenty years.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.

Willard was a Christian, and a Charter member of the Clifton Free Will Baptist Church. He also was a charter member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church, where he served in his early years, as Trustee, Church Treasurer, and was on the Building Committee.

He will be missed by his family and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Caldwell will be Friday, June 12, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Brother Richard Robinson and Brock Caldwell officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Bertha (Sandridge) Grooms was born the daughter of Grover “Buck” Sandridge and Katie (Brenner) Sandridge on September 27, 1917, in Oregon County, Missouri, and departed this life June 2, 2015, at Mercy Villa in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 97 years.

She was united in marriage on February 18, 1935, at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to Clyde Grooms, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2001.

She is survived by three children, Kay Case and husband, J.L. of Foristell, Missouri, James Grooms and wife, Sue of Couch, Missouri, and Ella Goans and husband, Frank of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cheryl Livingston, Steve Case, Doug Goans, Clint Grooms, and Colleen Snethern; six great grandchildren, Elizabeth Baxter, William Snethern, Matt Case, Kevin Case, Aaron Livingston, and Emily Grooms; one great-great grandchild, Wyatt Baxter; one sister, Nelma Blankenship; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Katie Sandridge; her husband, Clyde Grooms; two brothers, Richard Sandridge and George Sandridge; and one sister, Louise Leu.

Bertha and Clyde met at the Bonds Church where she was converted and Clyde rededicated his life to Christ. They joined the Bonds Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Clyde led the singing and also served as Sunday School Superintendent. They were active members of the Couch Methodist Church as long as their health permitted.

Bertha will be remembered as a Christian lady with strong faith and loving devotion for her family. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Grooms will be on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Reverend Jeannette Bragg officiating.

Roy Carlon Stewart was born the son of Roy Clifford Stewart and Ester Mae (Malloy) Stewart on June 6, 1935 in Newport, Arkansas, and departed this life on May 29, 2015 at his home near Doniphan, Missouri at the age of 79 years.

He was united in marriage on November 5, 1955 at Flint, Michigan, to Florence Elizabeth “Betty” Easlick.

He is survived by his wife of fity-nine years, Betty Stewart of the home; seven children, Fern Elizabeth Cotter and husband, Keith of Lansing, Michigan, Doris Mae Garcia of Doniphan, Robin Carol Allison of Doniphan, Della Lucille Jentzen and husband, Brian of Lake Michigan, Michigan, Fay Jean Moore and husband, Jimmy of Doniphan, Wilma Marie Stewart of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Wesley Clifford Stewart of Doniphan; ten grandchildren, Falania Reppuhn, Jesus Garcia, Jr., Jessica Mendaz, Darril Allison, Jr., Carlin Allison, Racheal Allison, Michael Jentzen, Brittney Arrend, Jennifer Morse and husband, Doug, and Miranda Stanley and husband, Jason; five step grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; eight great-great-great grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roy Carlon Stewart, Jr.; three grandchildren, Christopher G. Stewart, Dorothy Bohem and Katrina Garcia; one brother, Marvin Odell Stewart; and one sister, Dorris Jean Stewart.

Roy was employed by General Motors for thirty-seven years, retiring as Master Mechanic at Chevy Metal Fab in Flint, Michigan. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 659-Retired.

He was a hard-worker and enjoyed carpentry, gardening and trap shooting.  He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend.  He will truly be missed by all.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Stewart will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Shirley Henson officiating.

James Walter Collins was born the son of John A. Collins and Alice (Dickey) Collins on March 17, 1948 in Wirth, Arkansas, and departed this life on May 29, 2015 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 67 years.

He was united in marriage to Pam Capps and was later united in marriage to Marsha Shouse.

He is survived by three children, James Collins and wife, Angeline of Iuka, Mississippi, Donald Collins and Elizabeth Collins both of the home near Hardy, Arkansas; one step-daughter, Samantha Hunt of Colorado; three grandchildren, Caleb, Katelyn, and Carson Collins; five brothers, Johnny Collins of Hardy, Arkansas, Danny Collins of Hardy, Arkansas, Tommy Collins of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas , Everett Collins of Hardy, Arkansas and Clyde Collins of Ravenden, Arkansas; two sisters Mary Lou Merson of Zion, Illinois and Joyce Dommert of Mountain View, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Collins and one sister, Thelma Melton.

Mr. Collins was a Christian and attended Divine Mercy Pentecostal Church in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. He was a farmer and carpenter by trade, a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will truly be missed by all.

Funeral services for Mr. Collins will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Pastor Willie Willbanks and Reverend Ronnie Kelly officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Sunday, May 31^st, from 12:00 noon until the service starts at 2:00.

Burial will be in the Ed Collins Cemetery near Wirth, Arkansas.
