William Eaves, age 68, of Alton, Missouri, died Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 3:25 PM in Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Alice Fern Armstrong was born the daughter of Boyd Anderson and Carrie Whitman Anderson on August 11, 1931, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and departed this life November 8, 2017, in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 86 years.

She was united in marriage on November 10, 1948, at Hardy, Arkansas, to Silas Armstrong.

She is survived by her husband, Silas Armstrong of the home in Ash Flat, Arkansas; one daughter, Claudia Freeman of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, Ernie Armstrong and wife, Lana of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Konnie Haney and husband, Kenny, Brad Armstrong and wife, Vickie, and Bev Bailey and husband, Sean; five great grandchildren, Kelsey, Hopper and husband, Josh, Kaitlyn, Payton, Landen, and Laken; one brother, Mark Anderson of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Carrie Anderson; one grandson, Anthony Smith; two brothers, Junior Anderson and Buck Anderson; and one sister, Juanita Shaver.

She was a dedicated homemaker and worked with her husband, Silas in his carpentry business.

Fern enjoyed artwork, painting, and music. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She taught her family about cooking and life in general.

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Church of God in Thayer; a devoted wife; a loving mother and grandmother; and a dear friend and neighbor.

She will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Graveside services for Mrs. Armstrong will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with Brother Robert Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc in Thayer.

Patrick Dewayne Martin was born the son of John A. Martin and Terry Lynn Verrett Martin on October 30, 1984, in Granite City, Illinois, and departed this life November 6, 2017, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 33 years.

He is survived by his parents, John and Terry Martin of Thayer, Missouri; two brothers, James Martin of West Plains, Missouri and Robert Martin of Circleville, Ohio; two nephews, Chad Robertson and Dameun Mitchell; several cousins; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Juanita Martin; his maternal grandparents, John and Berna Ragan; and grandmother, Leona DeClue.

He was a graduate of the Police Academy, earning an Associate Degree.

Patrick loved music and was a talented drummer. He enjoyed woodworking and Green Bay Packers football.

He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Refuge Apostolic Church in Thayer.

He will be remembered as a beloved son and brother and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Reverend Jerry Heath and Brother Clay Risner officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 13th from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Services will be under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Betty Ruth (Cotham) McCameron, age 85 of Lenoir City, Tennessee, passed away at her home Sunday morning, November 5, 2017 surrounded by her family. Betty was born to the late Marvin and Dora Bell (Henson) Cotham in Thayer, Missouri. She worked for many years in the Howard County School System in Indiana. She relocated to E. Tennessee where she lived out her retirement years close to family. Betty was a member of the Lenoir City Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by parents; husband, Jack Russell McCameron; granddaughter, Amber Marie McCameron and 16 siblings.

Survived by her sons and wives, Jackey Ray (Deborah) McCameron, Antioch, Illinois, William Russell (Carin) McCameron, Lenoir City, and Joseph Bryan (Kathy) McCameron, Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Chad, Benjamin, Jennifer, Sarah E., Madison, Sarah R. and Justin; great-grandchildren, Alex, Carly, Sam, Cooper, Hayden and Breanna; sister, Mildred Barthlomee, Thayer, Missouri and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

The family will travel to Thayer, Missouri for graveside services at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10th at McCameron Cemetery, west of Thayer. Carter Funeral Home in Thayer will serve the family in Missouri.

Frank Ernest Schremmer was born the son of Carl J. Schremmer and Marie Ruprecht Schremmer on May 31, 1928, in Herington, Kansas and departed this life November 5, 2017, at his home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas at the age of 89 years.

He was united in marriage in 1950, at Garden City, Kansas, to Norma Jean Boyd, who preceded him in death on February 6, 1986. He was united in marriage in 1990, at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, to Neta Earls, who preceded him in death on April 18, 2006.

He is survived by one son, Mike Schremmer of St. Charles, Missouri; one daughter, Cheryl Cumbie and husband, Jim of St. Peters, Missouri; two grandsons, Jason Schremmer and wife, Terri of Bakersfield, California and Josh Schremmer and wife, Leslie of Moscow Mills, Missouri; eight great grandchildren, Jersey, Grace, Mike, Jessie, Cameron, Chris, Casey, and Adam; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; three brothers, Walter, Eugene, and Paul Schremmer; and two sisters, Lorene Young and Dorothy Ford.

Besides being a farmer, Frank was a welder and was employed as a line mechanic for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft for many years.

Mr. Schremmer was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 7831 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and American Legion Post 55.

Frank loved nature, planting and growing fruit trees, working in his vegetable garden, growing beautiful flowers, and enjoyed feeding birds.

He was of the Protestant faith. He will be remembered as a kind and caring father and grandfather. He will truly be missed by his family and the neighborhood in which he lived.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Davis Cemetery, east of Thayer, with Erman Croney officiating.

Burial will be in Davis Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

Lorlie Ann Slaughter was born the daughter of Harry Parr and Marion McGlynn Parr on December 11, 1931, in Drayton, North Dakota. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Jim and Lizzie McGlynn. Ann departed this life October 19, 2017, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.

She was united in marriage in 1952, at Seymour, Indiana, to Lester Slaughter, who preceded her in death on April 25, 2011.

She is survived by one son, Mike Slaughter and wife, Judy of Lebanon, Missouri; one daughter, Vicki Biggs, and husband, Kelly of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brian Slaughter, Chad Slaughter, David Jones, Erin Zeigenbein and Alisha McBride; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; four sisters, Beverly, Kay, Pauline, and Gayle; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Marion Parr; her adoptive parents, Jim and Lizzie McGlynn; and several brothers and sisters.

She was an avid reader, spending countless hours with a good book in her hands. Most of all, Ann was a dedicated homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She always enjoyed and treasured time spent with her family.

She will be remembered as a loving mother and a cherished grandmother and will truly be missed by all that knew her.

Graveside services for Ann Slaughter of Lebanon, Missouri, formerly of Thayer, will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 2:00PM at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer with Erman Croney Officiating.

Debra Ann Phipps was born the daughter of Melvin Kates and Emma Smith Kates on June 26, 1957, in Ventura, California, and departed this life October 18, 2017, at her home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 60 years.

She was united in marriage in 1995 at Alton, Missouri, to Hershel Phipps.

She is survived by her husband, Hershel Phipps of the home in Thayer, Missouri; her son, James Deckard and wife, Tanya of Boonville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Danielle Deckard of Kansas City, Kansas and Michael Deckard of Boonville, Missouri; two brothers, Danny Kates of Kansas City, Missouri and Don Kates of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Bonnie Tusler of California and Virginia Brandt of California; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Emma Kates; one brother, Dempsey Kates; and two sisters, Lois Melton and Betty Bandy.

She was a Christian and attended Shiloh Grand Gulf Church as long as health permitted.

Debra was a dedicated homemaker and wife; a loving mother and grandmother; and a dear friend and neighbor.

She will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Graveside Services for Debra will be held Friday, October 20th, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Walker Cemetery in Thayer.

Kristopher Andrew Kerwin was born the son of Paul Pennington and Penny Kerwin Pennington on December 22, 1998, in West Plains, Missouri, and departed this life on October 14, 2017, near Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 18 years.

He is survived by his parents, Paul and Penny Pennington of Thayer, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Sandy Major of Winfield, Kansas; maternal grandfather, James Kerwin of Thayer, Missouri; paternal grandmother, Linda Pennington of Thayer, Missouri; maternal great grandmother, Maxine Ptacek of Winfield, Kansas; loving girlfriend, Daisy of Mansfield, Missouri; uncle David Kerwin, Adam Kerwin, and Dustin Lyon; aunt Krystal Kerwin and Hope Lyon; plus several others, including great aunts and uncles; many cousins; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Olen Pennington.

Kristopher was a graduate of Thayer High School, graduating with the class of 2017. He was an active member of the Beta Club, FBLA, FCCLA, Spanish Club, Band and Golf teams. His favorite sport was football, and enjoyed playing since the fourth grade.

Kristopher was a Freshman at the State Technical College of Missouri Lynn Campus.

He had an outgoing personality, enjoyed being with friends, and had worked at McDonald’s and Pizza Inn.

He will truly be missed by his family, his friends, and all that knew him.

Geneva Faye Farris was born the daughter of David Elvis Owen and Nancy Corminson Owen on October 24, 1941, in Myrtle, Missouri, and departed this life October 14, 2017, at her home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 75 years.

She was united in marriage on January 7, 1958, in Thayer, Missouri, to Joe Sacra. On October 12, 1961, at Smithville, Virginia, she was united in marriage to Donald Cline. She was united in marriage on June 27, 1964, at Thayer, Missouri, to Robert Farris.

She is survived by four children, Melissia Busby and significant other, Gary McCormack, of Thayer, Missouri, David Sacra and wife, Linda of Thayer, Missouri, Michelle Lynn Farris Simpson and significant other, Waylon Benson of Maumelle, Arkansas and LaDawn Haney and husband, Dale of Doniphan, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Nancy Owen; one son, Douglas Cline; one daughter, Janice Farris; one brother, Delbert Ray Owen; and one granddaughter, Misty Starr McPartlen.

Geneva was a Christian and attended the State Line Pentecostal Church.

She was a hairdresser and also worked as a truck driver for a period of time.

She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 4066 in Wappapello, Missouri.

She enjoyed playing bingo and was active in the Thayer Relay for Life.

She will be remembered as deeply devoted to her family and will truly be missed by all that knew her.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the State Line Pentecostal Church in Thayer with Brother Wayne Hurst officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home in Thayer on Tuesday, October 17th from 6-8 PM.

Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery, Myrtle, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
