Ronald “Ron” Stieben

Ronald Dean Stieben was born the son of Edwin Stieben and Velma (Bell) Stieben on July 7, 1944 in Camp Atterbury, Indiana, and departed this life April 3, 2013 at his home in Couch, Missouri at the age of 68 years.
He was united in marriage on September 19, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois to Sandra Schultz.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Stieben of the home; one daughter, Deanna Peterson and husband, Patrick; two sons, Ronald Stieben, Jr., and Michael Stieben; three grandchildren, Jereme and Marissa Peterson and Michael Stieben, Jr.; his mother, Velma Stieben; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Stieben.
Before his retirement, Ron was employed as a police officer in Chicago, Illinois and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; spending time with his family, being outdoors on his farm with his horses and dogs, his guns, his old Mustang car, and treasured visits with his friends.
Some of Ron’s many hobbies were woodworking, leather work, collecting knives, coins, beautiful glassware, and attending auctions.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving dad and grandpa and a loyal friend. Ron will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri on Monday evening, April 8th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Brother Jake Lawrence will offer a eulogy at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at the Funeral Home.
