Carl Mannard Day was born the son of Oscar Day and Arvilla Davis Day on April 21, 1919, in Brandsville, Missouri, and departed this life September 16, 2017, at National Health Care in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 98 years.
He was united in marriage on August 10, 1940, at West Plains, Missouri, to Iva Jeanette Jones, who preceded him in death on June18, 2009.
He is survived by four children, Janet Phipps and husband, Calvin of Koshkonong, Missouri, Sonny Day and wife, Shirley of West Plains, Missouri, Mary Brite of Bay Minette, Alabama, and Jimmy Day of Thayer, Missouri; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Arvilla Day; his wife, Iva Day; one son-in-law, Jim Brite; two brothers, Paul Day and David Day; one infant brother; six sisters, Lorene Bussell, Louise Golden, Lucille Golden, Dowan Hunsperger, Hazel Fetrow, and Alice Brown.
Mr. Day was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Carl was a farmer at heart, owning cattle, horses, and chickens. He enjoyed working on his farm and was known to use the brushhog up until the age of ninty years.
He was a Christian and a faithful member of the Stateline Pentecostal Church, where he served as Deacon.
Carl was a dedicated family man and will truly be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services for Carl Day, age 98, of Koshkonong, Missouri, will be held Wednesday, September 20th, 2017, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Wayne Hurst officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 19th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.
Burial will be in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery near Thayer with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

I have such wonderful memories of Carl from my childhood…he and my dad (Jack Langley) were great buddies and I was their tag a long, I’ll never forget him always calling me Sis and looking out for me …Much love and many prayers to all his family.
