He was united in marriage March 14, 1998, in Gladstone, Missouri, to Cheryl Shepherd Moore. They were privileged to share 12 years of marriage together.
Boyd is survived by one daughter Ashley McCutchen of Southaven, Mississippi; four stepchildren Leslie (Jerry) Pitts of Saltillo, Mississippi, Travis (Heather) Moore of Kansas City, Missouri, Amanda Gunn of Thayer, Missouri, Lucas Moore of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers Charlie (Teresa) McCutchen of Ozark, Missouri, Mike (Shirley) McCutchen of Thayer, Missouri; long-time special friend Michelle Crowell of Alton, Missouri; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl McCutchen and his parents Charles and Irene McCutchen.
Boyd was a graduate of Thayer High School with the class of 1976. He then moved to the Kansas City area, where he lived for many years. For a while, he worked as a maintenance millwright. Then he became employed as a heavy steel fabricator for over 30 years, in which his duties included welding and shop foreman. During this time, he also taught welding part-time for 13 years at the Kansas City Metropolitan Community College. He retired in 2011. Soon thereafter, he moved back to Thayer to take care of his mother.
During his free time, Boyd enjoyed working in his shop on projects that involved steel fabrication. His real joy was riding and wrenching on his Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Boyd was a kind soul and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Mike, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember mom receiving a card from Boyd on her 90th birthday a few years ago. She always thought Boyd was so kind to look after any kids that were getting bullied or picked on at school. I will keep you and your family in my prayers at this difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear of Boyd’s passing. I have many fond memories of him.
One of my first memories of him was in Jr. High; I was running late for class, when a stack of books fell out of my locker and Boyd stopped to help me. He was a kind soul.

Our sincere condolences to everyone that was a part of Boyd’s life. He touched so many lives as a caring family man, wonderful friend talented instructor and skilled tradesman. Boyd will be thought of often and never forgotten. May your many wonderful memories be of great comfort. This Bible verse recorded in Psalms 46:1 has been of help to our family when experiencing a tragedy. It reads “God is our refuge and strength, a help that is readily found in times of distress “. May God Jehovah give strength and his love to each of you.
