Amos Ray Traw was born the son of Amos Traw and Bertha (Price) Traw on February 28, 1934 in Fulton County, Arkansas and departed this life on August 24, 2016, at his home near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, at the age of 82 years.
He was united in marriage on June 5, 1954 to Merlene Oakes. He was united in marriage on August 4, 1973 to Moon Ja Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Moon Ja Traw of the home, near Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; six children, Robin Wells and husband, Steve of Williford, Arkansas, Regina Stephens and her husband, Steve of El Paso, Texas, Terry Traw of Hardy, Arkansas, Selena Ann Lowe and husband, Tony of Hardy, Arkansas. Dawn Engel and husband, Tony of York, South Carolina and Donna Dravenstott of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Drucilla, Heather, Morgan, Jasmine, Jade, Tori, Alyssa and Emily; four great grandchildren, Dillon, Austin, Tyler and Eli; four brothers, Roy Traw of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Troy Traw of Williford, Arkansas, Carroll Traw of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Doyle Traw of Gakona, Alaska; one sister, Joyce Porter of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Bertha Traw; and one sister, Veda McCradic.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. He retired after twenty-three years of service as Chief Warrant Officer.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended New Hope Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Funeral services for Amos Ray Traw, age 82, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Brother Floyd Rikard officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 27 from 1:00 PM until service time at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Flint Cemetery, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc in Thayer.
