Richard LeRoy Goans was born in Willow Springs, Missouri, the son of Paul F. Goans and Mary Jane Ryan Goans on January 4, 1940, and departed this life on December 29, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 78 years.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Wrenfrow on May 22, 1965 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Goans of the home, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three children, Rick Goans of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Edward Goans and wife, Beverly, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Andrew Goans of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Whitney Vogler and husband, Levi, of Thayer, Missouri, and Tyler and Cortney Goans of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one sister, Nellie Blackburn of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one special niece, Mary Lynn and husband, Chuck, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; other relatives; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Goans; and two brothers, William and John Mullin.
Richard was an Airman of the United States Airforce, serving his country proudly for several years.
He worked for the Mammoth Spring State Park for many dedicated years. He also worked at RAM auto parts.
Richard enjoyed looking at antique cars. He also loved listening to bluegrass music and playing along on his guitar. His most favorite thing to do was spending time with his three grandchildren.
Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 1:00 PM until service time.
