Zella Mae Rhodes, 93, West Plains, Missouri, passed away June 24, 2024 at Brooke Haven Healthcare, West Plains, Missouri.

Zella Mae Rhodes was born January 21, 1931 in Ozark County, Missouri to the late John Gunter and Beatrice “Collins” Gunter.

She was married in 1946 to Dee Marshell who preceded her in death in 1994. She later married Dusty Rhodes who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three children, Gary Marshell and wife Sherry, Willow Springs, Missouri, Mary Swearengin and husband Bob, West Plains, Missouri, and Kate Rennolett, West Plains, Missouri; two brothers, Joe Gunter, Houston, Missouri and David Gunter and wife Daisy, Caulfield, Missouri; ten grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; thirty four great great grandchildren, and five great great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; three brothers, Robert Gunter, Wayne Gunter, and Wayland Gunter; one sister Sylvia Peterman, and one great grandchild.
She loved to sing, enjoyed painting and working in her flower garden. She loved spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel. West Plains, Missouri.

Visitation will be held Friday night, July 5, 2024 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, Missouri from 7 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri (off E Highway at South Fork), under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains, Missouri.

    David, Daisy, and Gunter Families,

    Mary, Bob and family.
    Zella was part of our family because of you. She is embedded in Kyle’s memories as well as ours.
    Let the image of her Heavenly homecoming soothe your hearts. Hallelujah she is HEALED.
