Funeral services for Willie JH Holstine, 93, Caulfield, Missouri, will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, Missouri, with Poncho Puckett officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

He was born the son of the late Luther Holstine and Alpha Mae Williams Holstine, on August 20, 1929 in Mitchell, Arkansas and died March 7, 2023 in Caulfield, Missouri.

He was united in marriage June 3, 1950 in Vidette, Arkansas to Juanita Turner, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Holstine, Belton, Missouri and Jay Martin Ponak, Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Louise Crotts, Mountain Home, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Gary Criqui, Jason Criqui, LeeAnn Holstine, Amanda Fesler, Nicole Groves, and Weldon Ponak; twelve great grandchildren, Tate, Tysen, Cade, Emily, Kaylee, Kolby, Keegan, Madison, Olivia, Asa, Jenna, and Hayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Holstine and Alpha Mae Williams Holstine; his wife, Juanita Holstine; two children, Bobby Dale Holstine, and Libby Criqui; three sisters, Devene Gilberth, Mary Ruth Baker, and Joy Lee Baker; four brothers, James Holstine, Cleo Jr. Holstine, Joe Holstine, and Carmon Holstine, and one grandson, Ryan Criqui.

He loved to garden, fish, and really enjoyed sitting on his front porch visiting with family and friends, and listening to bluegrass music.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.

Burial will be in Bakersfield Cemetery, Bakersfield, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

    So sorry to hear of his death, but he lived a long life. It’s hard to believe all the boys and all of the girls except Louise have passed. He will be missed by all of his children, grandkids, and great grandkids. Being one of the younger Holstine cousins, I didn’t see him often, but knew he was a good person.

    Sorry to hear of Jay’s passing. Will always remember him attending the monthly music gatherings. He will be missed.
