William John Ostrom was born the son of Adolph Ostrom and Rose (Wagner) Ostrom on July 26, 1934, in Hardy. Arkansas and died April 19, 2017, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.
He was united in marriage on November 30, 1968, in Eugene, Oregon to Sally Wood who preceded him in death on September 28, 2009.
He is survived by two sisters, Erma Woods of Alton, Missouri and Linda Holman and husband, Larry of Trumann, Arkansas; eight nieces and nephews, Phyllis Ballard, Doris Farthering, Becky Mesh, Debby Renshaw, Renea Burchfield, Larry Holman, Robbie Holman and Jerry Woods, several great nieces and great nephews; two step-daughters, Gail Fletcher of Eugene, Oregon and Sheryl Shipp of Junction City, Oregon; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Rose Ostrom; his wife, Sally Ostrom; one brother, Robert Ostrom; two sisters, Betty Stark and Vida Ostrom and one step-son, Eddy Wood.
William was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army.
He was employed by Georgia Pacific Lumber Company in Eugene, Oregon for many years. After returning to Oregon County, he became a full time farmer, an occupation he dearly enjoyed.
William will truly be missed by his family, friends and the neighborhood in which he lived.
Funeral services for William J. Ostrom, age 82, of Thayer, Missouri, will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.
Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
