Virginia Eloise Garrett was born the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Haynie and Mary Ellen (Coles) Haynie on November 23, 1938, in Searcy, Arkansas, and departed this life January 24, 2015, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.

She is survived by three children, Kuhrtiss Garrett and wife, Bilynda of Salem, Arkansas, Kelly Garrett of Koshkonong, Missouri, and Margie Vandiver and husband, Bobby of Koshkonong, Missouri; five grandchildren, Levi Garrett, Lacy Barker, Libby Hale and husband, Nick, Joey Vandiver and wife, Keena, and Amber Harlan and husband, Adam; six great grandchildren, Jasmyn, Kynslee, Kolt, Colleen, Channing and Paycyn; two sisters, Nadine Birdwell and husband, Dave of Searcy, Arkansas, and Grace Spradling and husband, Tommy of Greenville, Texas; several nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Bradley Vandiver and Lane Garrett; three brothers, Clint Coles, Beau Haynie and Carl Haynie.

Virginia graduated as Salutatorian from Griffithville, Arkansas High School with the Class of 1956. She was employed by Nu-way Market in Thayer for several years and was later employed as produce manager by Price Chopper Supermarket in West Plains, Missouri.

She enjoyed singing, working cross word puzzles, and growing flowers.

She was a long-time member of Koshkonong Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, loved her church family, and had a special love for her pastor and his family.

She will be remembered as deeply devoted to her family and was affectionately known by her grandchildren and many others as Maw-Maw. She will truly be missed by her family and the neighborhood in which she lived.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri, with Brother Johnny Holesapple officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer on Monday, January 26th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Howell County, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

    So sorry to hear your Mother Virginia passed away, didn’t realize she was sick. Pray for you and your families the Lord will comfort your hearts, remember when you all was our neighbor years ago on JJ highway, West Plains. Didn’t know your mother was two years older than I. Your Mother was real sweet and a hard worker and loved her family very much. I always talked to her when I went into Country Mart to shop in West Plains. If I would have known sooner I would have come to the funeral. Sincerely, Deanne
