Verlin Henry Howard, son of the late Elisha Howard and Iola Elliott Howard was born June 22, 1933 in Dora, Missouri and was entered into rest on April 18, 2018 in West Plains, Missouri.
He married Lena Collins April 5, 1952. To this union three children were born, Deloris (Alvin) Tooley of Vanzant, Missouri, Marsha (Rick) Tooley of Vanzant, Missouri, and Verlin Wayne Howard (Darlene) of Mountain Grove, Missouri; five grandchildren, Darren Tooley of Baltimore, Maryland, Richard (Tara) Tooley, Lenexa, Kansas, Teresa (Paul) Martell, Gardner, Kansas, Regina (Chris) Chaistain, Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Dustin (Kyla) Howard, Dora, Missouri; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Rozetta Howard, Joann Haworth, and Phyliss Henbest and two brothers, Marlet Howard and James Sparkman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Loretta Jones and Berniece Hopkins.
Funeral services for Verlin Henry Howard will be Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with Brother Larry Beavers officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.
Burial will be at Vanzant Cemetery, Vanzant, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.

I am very sorry to hear of Uncle Verlin’s passing. I very much regret not making a much bigger effort and staying in touch over the years. So many great memories of visits while growing up. I will always miss the stories he would tell with a twinkle in his eye and the fun loving and ornery nature he had with Mom any time we would visit. Our love and prayers go out to Aunt Lena, Marsha, Dolores and Verlin Wayne and their families. We love you, Marcus and Keely
