Anthony Bamber, Sr.

Anthony Paul Bamber, Sr. was born the son of Leo Paul Bamber and Flora Lee (Hutchinson) Bamber on July 17, 1934 at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and departed this life March 22, 2013 at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 78 years.

He was united in marriage August 20, 1953 at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Betty Crass.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Bamber of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; two sons, Anthony Bamber, Jr. of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Roger Lee Bamber and wife, Deborah of West Plains, Missouri; one daughter, Charlotte Kay Chouinard and husband, David of North Ridgeville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Joshuah Fisher, Sarah Fisher, David Bamber, Thomas Bamber, Rachel “Moon” Bamber, Melissa Ellis, Anthony “AJ” Bamber, Kelly Bamber and Karie Bamber; several great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Harrell of Brooksville, Florida; several nieces and nephews and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Flora Lee Bamber; one brother, Billy Bamber and three sisters, Pernia Gwaltney, Grace Mooney, and Ardith Harrell.

Mr. Bamber was a Veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict.

He was a truck driver, owning and operating his own trucking firm.  Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing, and antique shopping.  He was very active in the Thayer Fun and Friends Senior Citizens Group.

He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.  He will be remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and a loyal friend.  He will truly be missed by all.

Funeral services for Mr. Bamber will be Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Reverend Gerald Bounds officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Thayer, Monday evening, March 25, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.

    So sad to hear of friends passing. Tony was a ‘Big’ boy when we grew up in Mammoth and played near our homes together. My brother Boyd talked about those times this morning. He leaves with having made a good mark on those he knew. Peace and to all his family.
