Ruth Eugene (Jeanie) Croney passed away on June 6, 2021 at her home in Thayer, Missouri, surrounded by her loving daughters.  She was born September 23, 1938 in Couch, Oregon County, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence Case and Loretta Combs Case.

Jeanie was united in marriage to Thomas Croney, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1985.  They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Ramona and Tonya.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Croney; her parents, Clarence and Loretta Case; one brother, little Charlsie Case; and one unborn grandchild, baby Traw.

Jeanie is survived by two daughters, Ramona Davis (Edward, Jr.) of Koshkonong, Missouri and Tonya Traw (Danny) of Ash Flat, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Kimberly Davis of West Plains, Missouri and special friend, Ronnie, Nathan Traw (Brittany) of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Justin Davis (Monica) of Springfield, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Everette Traw and Aria; one brother, Winfred Case of Couch, Missouri; one sister, Gay Combs of West Plains, Missouri; grand dogs, Bella, Rocky, Bear, Stanley, Mia and Penny; Smokey the cat; other relatives; and many friends.

She was a Christian and a member of Thayer Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years and attended until health problems prevented her.  Jeanie loved the Lord and instilled in her family to always put God first in everything you do.

Jeannie graduated from Couch High School.  After graduation she was employed at the school as a secretary for two years.

She spent 22 years as city clerk for Thayer, Missouri and enjoyed her career with the city.  At the time of her retirement, she was personnel manager at Lee’s Curtain Factory in Thayer, Missouri.

Most of all Jeannie loved spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Funeral services for Ruth Eugene Croney will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Richard Robinson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to service time at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.

Burial will be on Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.

    This was such a shock to hear about Jeannie, as I’ve always known her. I will always remember our days of playing volleyball. I was her set up girl which was much different than in the power volleyball we see today. I know she will be missed so much by her family. I send to you my deepest sympathy.     Ramona and family, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your sweet Mother! I have a lot of fond memories of her along through our years of growing up and going to school together! She always had the neatest Birthday parties for you and we had a lot of fun at them! You truly had a Mom that cared about children and was good to all of us!     Ramona and family, my condolences, you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember Jeanie when she worked for the City of Thayer. She was such a sweet, nice lady to be around. She will y missed but she’ll be waiting for you all in Heaven.

    Mona and Tonya, so sorry for your loss. I’m so blessed to have so many great memories of your mom. Birthday parties, shopping and trips. She always treated me like one of her own.
