Nicky Traw

Nicky Lee Traw was born the son of Roy Lee Traw and Alice Louise (Bates) Traw on April 17, 1956, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life on July 28, 2014, in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, at the age of 58 years.

He was united in marriage at Thayer, Missouri on July 4, 1975, to Treda May Vaughn.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Treda Traw of the home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; one son, Kenneth Lee Traw and wife, Jessica of Summerville, South Carolina; one daughter, Alissa Carol Smithson and fiancé, Matthew Shane Wood of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; three granddaughters, Hannah Smithson, Keeley Smithson, and April Delacruz; his father, Roy Lee Traw of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; Aunt Carolyn Carter of the home in Mammoth Spring; Arkansas; two brothers, Jacky Traw and wife, Jeanne of Willow Springs, Missouri, and Jimmy Traw and wife, Dayna of Viola, Arkansas; two sisters, Janet Cunningham and husband, Robert of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Tamila Keeney and husband, Russ of Alton, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Traw, and one sister, Debra Pingleton.

Nicky was a graduate of Thayer High School with the class of 1974.  He served his country in the United States Army.

He worked for many years at Arlee’s Home Fashions in West Plains, Missouri, in the maintenance department.

Nicky was an avid fisherman and enjoyed landscaping and working in his garden. His passion in life was love for his family and his fellowman. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and even strangers.

Nicky will be remembered for his kind heart and giving spirit. He was well loved by his family and the members of the community in which he lived. He will truly be missed by all.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 1, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, with Brother Anthony Woods officiating.

The family will receive friends at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, on Thursday evening, July 31st from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in Flint Cemetery at Wirth, Arkansas, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
