Mattie Leona Hartwig was born the daughter of Newt and Rendy (Ivey) Rogers on March 4, 1939 in Sharp County, Arkansas and departed this life December 16, 2012 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 73 years.
She was united in marriage June 7, 1962 at Eminence, Missouri to Irvin Morris Hartwig, who preceded her in death on April 22, 1994.
She is survived by two children, Patricia Holesapple and husband, Riley of Thayer, Missouri and Marcus Harmon and wife, Mildred of Thayer, Missouri; four grandchildren, Gary Rogers, Karmon Rogers and special friend, Erik Hobbs, Claude Sutton and wife, Kristie, and Dilila Martin and husband, Todd; eight great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Ethan, Katelynn, Natalie, Erin, Tommy, Laken and Aslan; one great great grandson, Landon; two sisters, Lola Mills and Barbara Rogers, both of Thayer; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Newt and Rendy Rogers; her husband, Irvin Hartwig; one daughter, Katherine Elaine Hartwig; three brothers, Milburn, Wilburn, and Cleo Rogers; two sisters, Neva Watson and Neda Collins and one infant sister.
Mattie was a member of the Church of Christ in Thayer. She truly loved her Lord, attending church, and the spiritual fellowship with her church family.
Mattie was a dedicated homemaker, making her family the first and foremost in her life. She enjoyed fishing with family and friends and her favorite pastime was needlework, especially quilting, leaving many treasured heirlooms for her family and friends.
She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hartwig will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer, Missouri.
Mrs. Hartwig’s body will lie In State at the Funeral Home in Thayer from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday, December 18, 2012 and Wednesday morning from 8:00 AM until the time of the service.
Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery, East of Thayer.
