Marshall Vincent (Vince) Shanks was born May 24, 1945 in Zanoni, Missouri to the late Rufus Shanks and Ova (Elliott) Shanks. He entered into eternal rest December 11, 2025 at his home in West Plains, Missouri.
In August 2008 Vince was saved and he lived all his years after serving the Lord. He always wanted his light to shine. Testimony time at church was one of his favorite times.
On April 18, 2020 he married Marie Sahlmann.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Shanks of the family home; his children, Dan (Stacey) Shanks of Pleasant City, Ohio and Christy (Kim) Reid of Peace Valley, Missouri; his stepchildren, Charles Howerton, Steven (Holly) Lane, Emma (Dane) Weise, and Scotty (Bre) Lane.
He was the proud grandpa of Adrian, Jesalyn, Mariah, Zach, Aaliyah, and Olivia. His love for them was impeccable. He had other grandchildren, great-grands, and great-great grands that he was very proud of and loved very much. He never considered grands as steps.
He is also survived by one sister, Mary Spinhirne, who lives in Black Canyon, Arizona, and one dear brother-in-law, Butch Anderson, Frankfort Springs, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Shanks, and Ova and Bill Conrad; his sisters, Pauline and Lorene, and brother, Fuzzy; his son Marshall. He was also preceded in death by his kid’s mom, Judith.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. He was very proud and honored to be a veteran.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Victory Chapel Church in Peace Valley, Missouri.
