Nina Jean (Hatfield) Langston was born the daughter of Charley Francis Hatfield and Hattie Belle (Bussell) Hatfield on January 8, 1925, in Koshkonong, Missouri, and departed this life on August 24, 2014, in Rogersville, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.
She was united in marriage at Miami, Oklahoma, on June 8, 1956, to Edsel Ray Langston.
She is survived by two daughters, Amy Rae Langston of Springfield, Missouri, and Penny Lynn Mingus and husband, Jim of Rogersville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jade Poe and husband, Jason of Austin, Texas, Jordan Mingus of Rogersville, Missouri, and Brianna Mingus of Austin, Texas; one great grandson, Langston James Poe; several nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Hattie Hatfield; her husband, Edsel Langston; two brothers, Orval Otis Hatfield and Charles Curtis Hatfield; and two sisters, Velma Adel Shoemaker and Helen Jo Mock.
Jean was a dedicated homemaker and welcomed the company of family and friends into her home. As a young lady, she was a clerical worker while living in California and Oklahoma.
She enjoyed sports and was an avid Saint Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
She was of the Methodist faith, a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and treasured time spent playing with her grandchildren.
She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Langston will be held, Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer with Pastor Ron Richardson officiating.
Burial will be in the Koshkonong Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
