Jason Michael Sloan was born the son of Paul M. Sloan and Kathleen E. (Olbricht) Sloan on June 10, 1981, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and departed this life February 12, 2016, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 34 years.

He is survived by his parents, Paul and Kathleen Sloan of Thayer, Missouri; aunts and uncles, David and Paula Olbricht of Thayer, Ted and Barbara Olbricht of Thayer, Jan and Doug Melton of Couch, Missouri, Herman Sloan of Koshkonong, Missouri, Neal Sloan of Thayer, Diane and Jim Pierce of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Millie and Larry Myers of Mammoth Spring; cousins, Keith Olbricht and wife, Stacy, Reneé Olbricht Swearengin and husband, Steve, Joshua Olbricht and wife, Gayla, Jared Olbricht and wife, Nicole, Nichole Melton Brooks and Justin Roy, Douglas Melton and wife, Kiley, Derek Pierce, Brian Myers and wife, Ashley, and Brandon Myers and wife, Rhonda; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Edith Sloan; maternal grandparents, Truman and Jean Olbricht; one infant aunt, Patsy Sloan; and one cousin, Matthew Allen Pierce.

Jason graduated from Thayer High School with the class of 2000, where he was a proud member of the Thayer Bobcat Marching Band. Later, he attended Crowley’s Ridge College and Southwest Missouri State University in West Plains, earning his Associate Degree.

Jason loved spending summers at Crowley’s Ridge Youth Camp, both as a camper and as a counselor.

He enjoyed helping his dad on the farm and going deer hunting with him. Sometimes, he could be seen taking a good nap while in the deer stand.

Jason was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Rams fan. He enjoyed country music and listened to a variety of artists, especially his favorite, Luke Bryant.

One of the highlights of his life was getting his drivers license, and all will remember Jason’s infectious belly laugh.
Jason was a member of the Church of Christ. He was an inspiration to everyone he met, greeting each day with determination and showing to all the true meaning of love for others.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted son, grandson, nephew, and cousin, and a friend to all. He will truly be missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who dearly loved him.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Erman Croney, David Olbricht, and Jim Laughary officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Monday evening, February 15th, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery near Thayer, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

    I am so sorry for the loss of LB, I became friends with LB through my brother Anthony Meeker. I want you to know what I will be praying for you all and that we loved LB. LB was an amazing person with a hear the size of Texas and he will be truly forever missed.

    So sorry for your loss. Jason was a very special and loving child, who won the hearts of many. I remember him when he was just a baby working at Town & Country. I know what you are going through as I lost my daughter Angela last year. She too was a only child which makes it even harder. Just remember your in my thoughts and prayers, and Jason will never be forgotten and he is in a much better place.

    Just so sorry for your loss Paul and family. Really, really hard to let him go. Many people are praying for peace in your heart now and coming years. Those memories are always with you.
